A couple who shot their children* with a BB gun for not doing household chores properly* have been jailed.
The five kids, aged 7 to 15, were blasted with the air weapon daily, a court heard.
One girl said she was shot for dropping things while her 15-year-old sister was targeted for refusing to change a nappy.
Another girl, aged 13, got fired at for washing up badly – and for having a boyfriend, as her dad said she was too young.
One daughter said: “They’d shoot me on the legs, arms, stomach and back.”
The crimes came to light this year when one of the children, who had an open wound, told a teacher she’d been shot.
Social services removed the children from the home in Blackpool, Preston crown court was told. The children* said their dad, 50, used the gun more than their mum, 33.
Both parents admitted five counts of child cruelty.
Jon Close, prosecuting, said the father brought the gun home in February 2016.
Rosalyn Emslie-Smith, defending, said: “His primary concern is for the welfare of his children.”
Judge Robert Altham jailed the father for two years and gave his wife a sentence of 19 months, suspended for two years.
He said: “This was not the behaviour of immature parents.
“This was the behaviour of people who had developed a regime of discipline, that involved this form of violence.
“Children must have found it extraordinarily stressful.”
