Did you ever watch Black Sails Lance?

I enjoyed the series.

No, I've wanted to, but haven't gotten around to that one yet.

Slower and talky in the first seasons, with some great action scenes every once in awhile.

Think Deadwood at sea in terms of long and intelligent dialog scenes (for pirates)

 good one to binge

ow

I didn't like the recent Pirates of the Caribbean movie. They had such a good thing going and 350 million of special effects couldn't save it.

Haven't seen it yet, but every review I saw of it said it pretty much sucked

Well yes

And then you hear things like Depp was going through a divorce with Heard and he left the set in Australia for weeks at a time due to 'injury', causing the production literal millions in additional costs.

With all of that money and talent, it's too bad they couldn't come up with a better story and scene choices. I love that type of movie and it really doesn't take much to entertain me despite what I've said here. Show some old Caribbean towns and cool cave hide outs, show some awesome ship battles and maybe throw in SOME of the ghost stuff...boom, you've got a great summer movie
