WILDFIRES in the US are changing the appearance of the moon to a blood red colour – prompting Christians to believe this is another sign the end of the world is near.
Some Christians claim September 23 is the day the world will end, and are picking up ‘signs’ along the way which they claim prove their theory.
The most prominent sign doing the rounds at the moment is in Revelation 12:1, which says: “A great sign appeared in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun with the moon under her feet and a crown of 12 stars on her head.
“And being with child, she cried out in her travail and was in anguish of delivery.”
Christian researcher David Meade says this is proof Nibiru, or Planet X, is on its way to Earth to cause the apocalypse, beginning on August 21, when a solar eclipse swept across the US.

He said the “woman in the sky” refers to the sun’s positioning on September 23 – in the constellation Virgo – Latin for ‘virgin’, IE the Virgin Mary.
Mr Meade said: “The great sign of The Woman as described in revelation 12:1-2 forms and lasts for only a few hours. According to computer generated astronomical models, this sign has never before occurred in human history.
“It will occur once on September 23, 2017. It will never occur again. When it occurs, it places the Earth immediately before the time of the Sixth Seal of Revelation.”
To add fuel to this theory, a spate of videos and pictures have appeared online which show the moon in a blood red colour.
Christian website Unsealed points to the Bible passage of Joel 2:30-31 which says blood red moons are another sign the end is nigh.
The passage reads: “And I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and columns of smoke.
“The sun shall be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes.”
The article on Unsealed, written by evangelist Gary Ray, claims the red moon is the second stage of the impending apocalypse.
It states: “According to this prophecy the order of events is: 1. The sun is turned to darkness, 2. The moon is turned to blood, and 3. The Day of the LORD comes.”

However, scientists say this is not a sign of the apocalypse, but simply science.
Wildfires across eastern US have been raging for some time giving the moon a red tinge.
The redness of the moon is caused by smoke rising into the polar jet stream – winds in the upper atmosphere – causing colours with short wavelengths, like green, blue, and purple, to scatter in all directions.
Colours with longer wavelengths, such as red, can persist through the smoke, which is what is visible to the human eye.
