I'm shocked it lasted as long as it dead. I swear to god the one in North Vancouver only had half the lights on the past 5 fucking years

I'm 30 years old and I don't ever remember it being a good store. Really, bravo for dragging this flaming turd of a company on well past its expiry date.

When I was a kid, we used to go to Sears a lot. They used to be iconic back in the day.

True...they've been doing a slow nose-dive for years. My niece worked there as a manager until last year in the clothing department.

It used to be the only game in town for many small towns in Canada...you'd have a Sears outlet in a mall that'd have a bunch of catalogs you could order from - before this Internet fad started happening :)

About 12 years ago I ordered all of our appliances from there...they saved my bacon as the Stove, Fridge and Dishwasher crapped out at the same time. And, they would pick local suppliers to be their repair technicians. And a friend who used to work there said they would shop the various brand manufacturers and get better deals, so it was usually slightly cheaper buying from them.

Less choices of places to buy stuff creates monopolies, which means higher prices, so I'm not happy they are folding.

Why is is appliances all seem to crap out at the same time? I swear I have 4 major things on the fritz right now..

It's probably a combination of factors.

They are built with planned obsolescence
