Thousands of Australian women are rushing to go under the knife in ambitious quests to emulate the newly trending 'plump rumps' of their celebrity icons.

The rounded derrieres famously sported by Australian rapper Iggy Azalea and Kim Kardashian are believed to have inspired a generation of impressionable women.

More women than ever are looking to achieve the curvaceous bottoms, signalled by a giant surge in demand for Brazilian 'butt lift' surgery around the country.

Experts say procedures to transform women's bottoms have taken preference over breast augmentation surgery, with the number of butt lifting rising by 26 per cent last year, Nine News reports.

With the athletic pancake-like aesthetic of the 80s well and truly out the window, 2017 has seen the women adapt to the ideology that 'the bigger the better'.

Popularity of the perky physical asset has grown in Hollywood circles during recent times, with fans drawing inspiration from the enviable curves of Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian and Iggy Azalea.

While Azalea's hind end has grown significantly in recent times, the star has denied getting 'bum implants', saying her sizable rear was all down to hard work and controlling her diet.

Kim Kardashian's famous figure has also won her a legion of fans, but she too has denied going under the knife to achieve her incredible posterior.

The trend has swept through Australian circles as well, with several social media influencers sporting their envied behinds in raunchy two-pieces.

Former Big Brother contestant Skye Wheatley frequently flaunts a notably rounder rump since her reality show stint in 2014 to her Instagram.

While she has never held back on divulging details of her boob jobs, lip fillers and rhinoplasty, the star has kept quiet on whether she's had any professional work on her derriere.

Fellow reality personality Noni Janur, who appeared on The Bachelor in 2016, is well-known for parading her voluptuous curves in tiny bikinis.

But besides the occasional cellulite reduction treatment, the Balinese beauty swears she is all natural.

Meanwhile Keira Maguire, who also found notoriety on the reality series, proudly boasts about her butt lifting procedures, among her multiple other surgeries, to social media.

She even filmed part of her treatment as it was happening to her followers on Snapchat.

Fellow Bachelor contestant Zilda Williams also exerts a rather rotund buttocks, but maintains her booty has been all work and no surgical short cuts.

Doctor Glenn Murray, from Western Australia, has performed more than 200 bottom augmentations in the past five years, compared to previously doing 80 in his 19-year-long career.

Experts say women were currently asking for procedures transferring their own fat, which was in line with current Hollywood trends.

Most commonly, fat was liposuctioned from fatty areas like the waist, stomach and thighs, before being injected into the butt cheek.

Another option was inserting silicone implants, with operation costs setting women back between $7000 and $10,000.
