Kellogg’s was served up several spoonfuls of shame Tuesday for a cereal box cartoon that featured a bunch of light colored Corn Pops hanging out in a mall — while a darker-skinned Pop scrubs the floor and acts as janitor.

Pictures showing the offensive packaging surfaced on social media and prompted the company to respond.

“Hey @KelloggsUS why is literally the only brown corn pop on the whole cereal box the janitor? this is teaching kids racism,” tweeted Marvel Comics writer Saladin Ahmed.

“Yes its a tiny thing, but when you see your kid staring at this over breakfast and realize millions of other kids are doing the same,” he added.

Kellogg’s responded to Ahmed’s tweet within hours, saying they were sorry and would be replacing the cartoon with something more sensitive.

“Kellogg is committed to diversity & inclusion,” the company said. “We did not intend to offend – we apologize. The artwork is updated & will be in stores soon.”

While the packaging mostly caused outrage, some Twitter users tried to shed a more positive light on it.

“He is the only one with a job,” one person said, describing the “brown” pop.

“Also… why is he the only one wearing clothes!?” another user added.

We need to make life in the US harder. People are spoiled and bored.
