Nothing says Christmas like an elf doing unspeakable things to Barbie.

At least, that’s according to Poundland.

The discount store, which recently launched a range of sex toys, scandalised Twitter today by releasing various pictures of a toy elf doing all sorts of naughtiness.

One of the pictures shows the elf holding a teabag over a lying down Barbie’s mouth asking ‘How do you like your tea? One lump or two?’

They since removed the image of a Twinings box after the tea company complained.

Another of the images shows the elf enjoying a game of strip poker with naked dolls using the age old pun ‘poke-her’.

And Star Wars even gets in on the act with the elf doing battle with Darth Vader with a sex toy.

There were plenty of people who thought the advertising campaign had overstepped the mark.

On Twitter Misty said: ‘I think these adverts are created by sexually depraved/deprived males. Maybe they should try w**king before work.’
Mrs Mushroom added: ‘Is that supposed to be funny? Do you want to explain it to the kids? Good grief.’

And Adam Love said: ‘An Elf teabagging Barbie. Doesn’t get more festive that that. Merry Christmas!’

However, it appears Poundland knows its customers because there was plenty of praise for the cut-price Christmas campaign.

CMNatic said: ‘I’d never though Poundland could provide such wealth of laughs but I’m happy that I’m proven wrong.’

And Mags Walker added: ‘The whole worlds gone PC mad? Keep it up Poundland, us sane folk with a sense of humour are loving it! Plus you guys are owning twitter right now. Well played.’

The marketing director for Poundland, which recently has had bad press concerning product recalls, was basking in his bad little elf’s bad behaviour.

Mark Pym said: ‘The love on Facebook has been overwhelming, and that’s because it connects with our shoppers.

‘We’re proud of a campaign that’s only cost £25.53 and is being touted as the winning marketing campaign this Christmas!’
