I spent the evening totally alone. Spoke to my ex (online texting) for a while, then used my new French Coffee press and played an old video game I enjoyed years ago.

It was -32 here that night, so I stood outside briefly at midnight and heard some cheers...then some nutcase set off a whack of fireworks in the little park behind my place :lol:

I really wanted my Dad to see his 85th birthday in late 2017, and for him to see this New Years in particular. :(

2017 was a bit of a clusterfuck shit show personally, although from a professional standpoint it was a good year. 2018 started with a phone call at 12:45 am to let me know the compressor on my -80C freezer was out. went into the lab to transfer over everything to a spare to not lose all the samples to thawing. so 2018 is off to a banging start :|

Still recovering a bit :lol: Ended up having our original plan of going to a friend's cabin cancelled, so we hosted the crew of 14-16 people at our place. It was a fun, drunken event.

I really hope 2018 has great shit in store for all of you.

Anyone else write down their New Year's resolutions?

I wrote mine out... and feel the need to explain them :lol:

1. Take the bus to work instead of drive (it's an easy bus ride and will save me about $8-10/day, despite the fact I loath the bus :lol: )
2. Don't drink beer Monday-Thursday (I don't drink to excess, but one beer a night adds up calorie wise)
3. Eat less take-out and pack more lunches
4. Work out 4x/week including hockey
