The five British men charged with producing pornographic pictures after photos emerged of a Twister-style ‘sex position game’ say they aren’t even the ones featured in the images.

Yesterday authorities charged the Brits – part of a group of ten arrested last week – warning they could face up to a year in prison in Cambodia if they are found guilty.

They may spend six months behind bars before the case is even brought to court, authorities said.

Among the eight men and two women arrested in connection with what police described as ‘pornographic dancing’ were Britons Vincent Harley Robert Hook, 35, Daniel Richard Leeming Jones, 30, Thomas Alexander Jeffries, 22, Billy Stevens, 21, and Paul Francis Harris, 32.

Also detained were Dutchman Job Robertus van der Wel, 22, Canadians Jessica Drolet, 25, and Eden Koazoleas, 19, Norwegian David Nikolaus Aleksandr Ballovarre, 22, and 32-year-old New Zealander Paul Martin Brasch.

The group were arrested on Thursday when officers raided a rented villa in the tourist hot spot of Siem Reap, which Cambodian police have said was a stop on a pub crawl.

All five of the British men arrested have insisted they are innocent and claim they are not even the people pictured in the ‘pornographic dancing’ pictures.

Speaking after their arrest on Thursday, one of the group said they were ‘confused’ because they did no even feature.

‘Honestly, it was really confusing. Everyone was confused. They raided, rounded us up, there were about 80 to 100 people at this party, some of them were tourists,’ the man – who wished to remain anonymous – said.

He added that the group believed the investigation was targeting tourists and expats in the south-east Asian country for wearing bikinis in public, and in relation to expat-run pub crawls in Siem Reap.

The mother of one of the five young men being kept in custody today said she is ‘in pieces’ after being allowed to speak to him on the phone from his prison cell.

Speaking from her home in Wadhurst, East Sussex, Marci Harbour, 47, the mother of 21-year-old Billy Stevens, told MailOnline: ‘We are just in pieces, and the frustrating part is that we don’t really know what to do.

She said the mother of another of those charged claims the group were ‘pressured into a confession’ by the Cambodian authorities.

‘He was doing nothing wrong, just having a good time and a drink,’ Ms Harbour said.

The five Britons charged in Cambodia over the Twister-style ‘sex position game’ include Daniel Jones, 30

‘The embassy has been in touch and we are hearing more from them tomorrow. It is terrible to think of him being stuck out there and completely innocent.

‘There’s a lot of us parents on it and I’m in touch with them but it’s difficult.’

In Cambodia, it is illegal to make pornographic images under the country’s 2007 Law on Suppression of Human Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation.

Samrith Sokhon, the prosecutor of the Siem Reap provincial court, the group could face up to a year in prison if convicted.

‘Any people producing pornography is contrary to Cambodia’s traditions,’ he told the Press Association.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office said in a statement: ‘We are assisting five British men arrested in Cambodia and are providing support to their families.’

A fear of mine. Getting charged for something in a foreign country and not being able to properly defend myself.

And fuck Cambodia...you mean to tell me a game of Twister (with clothes on) being photographed is worse sexually than the ladyboy trade and prostitution there?

I was in Camb. a couple of weeks back.

Word to the wise, any country where they have their opposition leader locked up: exercise caution.

It's every traveller's responsibility to understand the culture, environment and risks of their travel destination.
