A young woman was caught on camera downing an entire bottle of Jägermeister and a can of red bull in a shocking video.

Carley Sutton, a student at the University Ottawa in Canada, drank 700ml of alcohol in less than 20 seconds while her friends watched.

She then followed the alcohol with a can of red bull that she drank from a hole in the side of the can.

The video was posted on Barstool Ottawa's Instagram account and has been viewed more than 7,000 times.

The video starts with Carley opening the Jägermeister bottle and chugging the alcohol without taking a break.

People can hear Carley's friend react after realizing she is going to drink the entire bottle. Her friend - who was filming the video - said 'holy sh** Carley, no!'

Another friend joined in laughing and cheering on the university student until she finished both drinks.

It is unconfirmed if the video is real, but viewers can hear the lid of the German alcohol bottle crack open at the beginning.

Jägermeister has a 35 per cent alcohol content which is equivalent to 24.5 units of alcohol. Experts recommend for people to only drink an average of 14 units of alcohol per week to avoid negative side effects.

Drinking a bottle of Jägermeister so quickly can prove to be damaging - or even fatal - for the body because of how quickly the alcohol hits the bloodstream.

Viewers who commented on the video had mixed reactions to the student chugging the alcohol.

One person said 'marry me' while another said 'this is making me gag just watching it.'

The video ends with Carley dabbing - a popular dance move - after finishing the can of red bull, but it remains unclear how she felt after drinking all the liquid.

We used to pour a full bottle of Southern Comfort (40%) into three large glasses and slam them one after the other.

I didn't even like the taste of that crap and did it multiple times. We called it - taking our cough medicine - because of the taste.

I've literally watched the floor tilt sideways right after drinking a 26'er in five minutes

Ok I did a quick BAC calculator based on a 22 year old female weighing 125lbs. Using a calculation based on a 35% liquor like Jager, 17 shots in under 30 minutes could result in a blood alcohol level around .65-.77 (depending which website I used).

Unless you're an alcoholic with high tolerance, the magic number for death is around 0.34... I doubt she'd have held this down... but if she did, she's probably dead
