We have a large hockey arena about a block from work...last night people started lining up there for wristbands that allowed you on the parade route to see Wills and Kate.They started handed them out today...

Imagine a parade that enters a downtown area and basically does a large loop, it happens every year for our Stampede.We close the downtown core to traffic and have pancake breakfasts, contests etc to celebrate the parade.
This year it's designed completely different, you can't just take a folding chair and plonk your ass down anywhere on the parade route.I have to work all day Friday so I'll get totally hooped trying to get across the city...

I remember that...I was visiting Calgary at the time. My bro in law lives there and said when reading the paper "Man, I would!" which resulted in his wife beating him with said paper! :)

This reminded me of when a friend invited me to play a game of basketball with him and some of his friends from his church group. It was a really good, fun game but there was one guy who was really ultra-competitive and constantly in my face because I was one of the tallest there and he seemed to be one of those wiry forward-type of players.

We jostled a bit and he gave me the elbow a few times and basically I gave as much as I got when it came to jostling. I kept getting some dirty looks from my friend a few times when I used my size to jostle with him.

Well, afterwards it was beer and nachos and my friend introduces everyone all around and he comes to this short wiry guy and says "and this is Father Damian". I immediately started apologizing and he stopped me "No, most people take it easy on me...thanks for being competitive!":oops::mrgreen:

We were trash talking each other whilst on the court, and I'm sure I swore more than once!

Reminds me of the Phil story...We used to play a lot of tackle football on the weekends.Beers, other things and generally a good time.This guy Phil shows up in full cleats, athletic gear and then proceeds to insult most of the regular players (don't throw to him, he can't catch...that guy can't run etc) He actually said to the QB - Throw it to me 5 times and we'll get 5 touchdowns guaranteed.Don't throw to these other guys....

Now Phil was a good athlete and he could move, so I decide to cover him on a pass play and I keep up with him stride for stride...the ball comes and we go for it, MAYBE I jostled him a little bit in the air...and I intercept it, he comes down like a bag of laundry and starts whining and crying about 'how I hacked him', pass interference, blah blah blah.

THEN, I see him at other football games, parties and he keeps calling me the guy who broke his wrist....I guess he fractured a small bone when he landed during the play and he reminded me of it every time I saw him for the next 5 years.

Finally one of my friends was drunk, says in a loud voice - Phil, shut the fuck up, it was a fair play, he beat you...GET OVER IT!!!! :x
