No I don't have TV. I stream shows from a site for free and haven't seen a commercial in over a year.

I went to Youtube to see the Superbowl commercials.

In a way the parody commercial touches on something I think about.

I got into PC's late, around 2003. I started by putting the hardware together, seeing what worked and why inside, and learning how to install operating systems and programs. Windows 95, 98 then XP.

Nowadays.. *reclines in rocker on porch* everything just 'works'. People and especially kids, know how to operate all of the the devices without effort, but they don't know how something works under the surface.

If the big EMP happens and tech has to regress a few years, 90% of society is screwed. My brother is one of those people like the kid from the Apple commercial. He can use every function on his phone and has an iPad Air...but when pressed, he doesn't really know how that wifi connects or what's happening to enable the tech.

 the guy with the hose is me...

Yeah, that "what's a computer" commercial is all over the Canadian airwaves. My 15 year old daughter did an eyeroll when she first saw it.

Hal - you can buy an aerial and have local stations without cable, y'know...$40 and I get 13 stations. I haven't had cable for about 17 years. My bro-in-law is blown away that the Canadian stations are broadcasting HD for free.

No kid in their right mind would do any of that shit nowadays. They'd probably start crying and looking for the nearest safe space if you even suggested it to them.
