The Hi-Line town of Fort Belknap had an 81-degree temperature change this week.

On Tuesday, Fort Belknap was 37 degrees below zero (-38C). In the afternoon, it was 45 degrees above zero (7C).

The cause, of course, was a chinook wind, the National Weather Service reported.

Loma still owns the record for largest temperature change in the country. On January 15, 1972 the temperature started at 54 below zero (-48C) and within 24 hours it had risen to 49 degrees above (9C) That's a 103 degree swing. (How do you dress for that?!)
