A red faced pensioner ended up in hospital after shoving half a 3ft phone charger up his penis in an attempt to ‘scratch an itch’.
The patient, in his 60s, shocked medics at the Dalian Central Hospital in north-eastern Liaoning Province when he walked into the building with 20in of the cable still hanging out between his legs.
The Chinese man said after attempting the stunt at home: ‘I didn’t disinfect it, but I washed it a bit.’
Urologist Gao Zhanfeng, who treated the man, added: ‘Getting it in there is easy, but it twisted in his bladder and created a knot, so we couldn’t pull it out again.’

The medics went for a laser treatment instead of invasive surgery.
Dr Zhanfeng removed the cable by burning through the knot and successfully pulling 11in of it out.
The remaining 8in were retrieved via a cystoscopy and endoscopy of the urinary bladder.
The OAP has since been discharged and is not expected to suffer any long-term effects.

The patient was asked whether he would try it again, but insisted: ‘I’ve learnt my lesson.’
