DENVER -- Amazon will deliver straight to your car.

The company on Tuesday announced that it is expanding its Amazon Key key-less delivery service to include in-car deliveries in the Denver area.

The Amazon Key service allows an Amazon delivery person to gain secure access to your car and leave the package in the vehicle, as long as it's parked in a publicly accessible area. The customer is then notified that the item has been delivered and their car has been re-locked.

The service is available to cars with certain connective technology -- the list currently is limited to 2015 or newer Chevrolet, Buick, GMC or Cadillac cars with active OnStar accounts and 2015 or newer Volvo vehicles with active On Call accounts.

The in-car delivery service is free to Amazon Prime members, who can access it by downloading the Amazon Key app and linking their car service account.

Amazon said it uses several layers of verification to make sure that the right delivery driver and the right package is at your vehicle before it's unlocked and the driver isn't allowed to leave until your car has been re-locked by OnStar or On Call.

Amazon announced the Amazon Key service last year. The system uses a smart lock and camera system to give delivery people secure access to your home.

Also on Tuesday, Amazon announced it was expanding its free Whole Foods delivery services to Denver, Sacramento and San Diego.

Amazon launched the free two-hour delivery services to Prime customers in Austin, Cincinnati, Dallas and Virginia Beach in February 2018.

Prime members in these cities recieve two-hour delivery free and ultra-fast delivery within one hour for $7.99 on orders of $35 or more.
