Bob Dorough, the creator and musical director of the “Schoolhouse Rock” series that taught kids about civics, math, history and other topics, died Monday at 94.
Dorough, the jazz musician behind the music in these educational cartoons from 1973-1985, was responsible for songs like “I’m Just a Bill” and “Conjunction Junction.”

Dorough’s granddaughter Corin Wolf told CNN that her grandfather was diagnosed with cancer last year, but did not disclose whether that was the cause of his death.
A funeral is tentatively scheduled for Monday in Mount Bethel, Pa., where he settled down and raised a family after kicking off his post-college music career in New York City.
