Snakes in his pants — that's how a Greenwood man explained to police why he was running naked down the street Saturday.
Norman Keith Wightman, 56, of 107 Lupo Drive, Greenwood was arrested Saturday and charged with indecent exposure.
A Greenwood police officer found a man running naked at about 4:20 a.m. Saturday along West Kirksey Drive, near Lyman Avenue, the report said. The man told officers he had been looking for snakes earlier, and there were snakes in his pants.
When the snakes began biting him, he undressed on the side of the road in plain view of motorists and took off running away from the snakes, he told police. An officer found the man's pants on South Main Street, the report said, but found no other clothing.
The officer who wrote the report did not mention seeing snakes at the scene.
The man appeared to be under the influence of drugs, the report said. He denied taking any drugs or alcohol, and asked to go to the hospital, but would not explain why he wanted to go.
