A former middle school teacher in North Dakota who allowed students to call her “Kim Kardashian” is accused of sharing sexually explicit Snapchat videos with two boys — and of having sex with one of them, according to a report.
West Fargo police received a tip in June that Liberty Middle School teacher Shannon Moser, 37, was having sex with a male student in Rendezvous Park, the Duluth News Tribune reported.
Authorities received additional tips that Moser — a married mother of four — had shared naked Snapchat videos with a 16-year-old boy.
The boy denied having an inappropriate relationship with the teacher, but his friend told police that the boy had talked about having sex with Moser in the park. The 16-year-old also had told his mom about his intimate relationship with the teacher, police said.
The student finally came clean and told police he had known Moser, a family friend, personally for about two years and that they had added each other on Snapchat.
The boy said Moser asked to meet him one evening in early June at Rendezvous Park, where she drove him in her van outside West Fargo.
She pulled over on a gravel road and the two had sex, according to a police report. Moser then told him, “No one can know,” according to the report.
The boy said Moser shared more photos after their encounter and asked at least once more if he wanted to have sex — but he turned her down.
On July 11, the teacher agreed to speak with authorities, but was initially reluctant to answer any questions, and kept asking what would happen to her husband and four kids.
Moser, who eventually asked to speak to an attorney, denied the student’s allegations, but said: “We always preach, ‘Tell the truth,’ and I have not been,” according to the police report.
Police seized her cellphone and found links to porn sites that featured boys having sex with women, according to the report.
Authorities said a second victim — a 15-year-old boy — told police on July 16 that he and Moser had been exchanging sexually explicit photos through Snapchat for about a year.
The boy told investigators he never had any physical contact with Moser, but said she had asked to meet him. He also said he received videos of Moser and her husband having sex, police said.
Moser, who was a science teacher at Liberty since fall 2016, was charged with two counts of using a minor in a sexual performance and one count of sexual assault. She resigned July 12.
Her attorney, Scott Brand, said Monday that it was premature to discuss the case — but added that Moser had no criminal background and has been a community volunteer.
“She’s mentored younger women and mothers who went through a tough upbringing,” he said. “She has been an instrumental person in people’s lives in a positive way.”
Schools spokeswoman Heather Konshak said police asked the district to hold off on its own probe into the allegations while the police conduct their investigation.
“Since school is not in session, the district could confirm that Mrs. Moser does not currently have any contact with students through school-related functions,” Konshak said in a statement.
“That same day, Mrs. Moser sent her letter of resignation to the district. West Fargo Public Schools will continue cooperating with the Police Department in their investigation, and will not comment further, in order to not jeopardize their progress.”
