A former Naples High School teacher is headed to trial in November on suspicion of having sex with a female student.

Brock Smith, 30, who was also a receivers coach for the school's varsity football team, faces two charges of unlawful sex with a minor in one case. In another case, he faces one charge of soliciting sexual activity with a minor and one charge of transmission of harmful material to a minor, according to Collier County court records.

Deputies and a Florida Department of Children and Families supervisor arrested Smith at the school Aug. 14, 2017, after interviewing him while they "were investigating an unrelated case at the time," according to the arrest report.

During that interview, Smith confirmed to authorities he had sent a then-17-year-old girl "nude images of himself" in November 2016, according to the report. Smith also told investigators that he and the girl had sexual intercourse in a bathroom, the report states.

A week earlier, on Aug. 8, 2017, investigators interviewed the girl, who stated Smith had messaged her through the social media app Snapchat several times and twice went to the restaurant where she worked and had sexual intercourse in the restroom, according to the report.

The report also alleges Smith began soliciting sex and sending nude photos of himself through Snapchat to another girl, then 16, in June 2017. She told investigators she was uncomfortable with the conversation and asked Smith to stop messaging her.

Smith has been held on a $400,000 bond in the Naples Jail Center since his arrest Aug. 14, 2017.

Smith was hired by the school district in 2011 and had worked at Naples High School for six years prior to his arrest.
