A FORMER substitute teacher faces a lengthy prison spell after sending "inappropriate" pictures to her young teenage students.

Amanda Lenea Pardue, 35, is accused of sending a number of explicit pictures and messages to several 14-year-old boys at the school where she worked.

Pardue, who taught at an unnamed school in Dade County, Georgia, has been arrested on suspicion of sharing pornography with minors and other related charges.

She has been charged with electronically furnishing obscene material to minors and computer or electronic pornography and child exploitation.

Trenton Police Chief Christy Smith asked the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) to conduct a child molestation investigation on Pardue, before getting an arrest warrant.

Police started investigating her case at the request of Trenton (Georgia) Police Department Chief Christy Smith on August 31.

Soon afterwards they obtained a search warrant for Pardue's phone.

GBI Special Agent in Charge Greg Ramey did not release the details of Pardue's messages with the boys or how she got hold of their numbers.

Pardue's attorney, Larry Stagg, said the problem had begun when she was included in a group text with multiple boys.

The district school board said they had fired Pardue as a result of the allegations.

Dade County School Superintendent Dr Jan Harris said in a statement: "We are saddened to learn about the arrest of a former substitute teacher.

"This individual is no longer employed as a substitute teacher with the Dade County Schools.

"We are cooperating with law enforcement officers as they investigate this matter."

He said he believes the GBI is looking at messages and pictures exchanged on Snapchat.

Stagg told US press: "My greatest concern is the GBI had one thing that they saved and not the rest.

"Anything can be taken out of context if you have one sentence of conversation."

Pardue surrendered herself at the Dade County jail without incident and was released on Thursday afternoon on a bond of $30,000 (£22,611).
