SOUTH Africans have expressed outrage after a seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped in the toilets of a family restaurant.
The unnamed victim is said to have been visiting the Dros Watermeyer diner, in Pretoria, with her mum when the assault took place.
Her attacker is said to have been watching her while she played before grabbing her as she went to the bathroom.
She was then dragged from the ladies to a men’s toilet cubicle, where the assault is said to have happened.
The girl’s mum raised the alarm when she heard “shocking noises” coming from the men’s room.
An eyewitness revealed the scene they found after walking into the men's toilet.
He said: "He was completely naked and so was the child. The child was bleeding from the groin.”
The suspect was arrested at the scene and charged with rape and possessing drugs.
He has been remanded in custody and has not yet been asked to plead.

A spokesman for Dros Watermeyer said: "We have been in contact with the parents of the child to convey our sympathy and offered our assistance in any form that would (or could) reasonably be required in a matter of this nature.”
South Africa has one of the highest incidences of rape in the world.
Police recorded 40,035 rapes in the 12 months leading to March 31 - an average of 110 each day, according to fact-checking group Africa Check.
