A STABBING in Greenwich, south east London, left a teenager dead last night.

Police were called to a disturbance on Armitage Road at around 9.25pm and found a man suffering from a stab injury.

Police and paramedics tried desperately to save the 18-year-old as he lay unconscious, but he bled to death.

The victim was confirmed dead at the scene at 10.03pm.

No arrests have been made at this stage and a manhunt is currently underway.

A crime scene remains and enquiries continue.

Scotland Yard is appealing for witnesses and anyone with information should contact Police on 101 quoting: CAD 7560/22 October.

A spokesman for Met Police said: "Officers are in the process of informing his next of kin.

“Formal identification awaits and a post-mortem examination will be held in due course.

"The Homicide and Major Crime Command have been informed.”

Knife crime has hit its highest ever level with nearly 15,000 offences committed in the past year, according to figures released last week.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said the 14,987 knife crimes in the year until the end of June was a 15 percent rise compared to the previous 12 months.

It includes 91 knife killings, 170 rapes or sexual assaults carried out with a blade, and 8,363 robberies at knife-point.

The latest figures will pile the pressure on London Mayor Sadiq Khan, who has been accused of failing to address the crisis of knife crime in the capital.

The Tory candidate for London Mayor Shaun Bailey has said Mr Khan has “lost control of the streets” and has wasted money on a “bloated” bureaucracy.

Mr Bailey has promised to put 1,000 more police officers on the streets.

However, Mr Khan has hit back, accusing the Tory hopeful of failing to understand how police funding works in London and blamed the Government for a financial squeeze on the Met.

He said: “We’re doing everything we can, in City Hall, to tackle this scourge but I make no apologies for relentlessly pushing the Government to understand that our police service desperately needs more funding right now.”

Well, unless you're gonna be buried with it, or cremated with it, or whatever... then you're not really gonna need it when you pass on.

So just sign it away to me and quit moping. I promise I'll take good care of it and it'll get used effectively in your honor.
