GRAND RAPIDS, MI - Those who are sick of the jolly, played-out Santa of their youth will have a new alternative for submitting wish lists this Christmas.
Hipster Santa is coming to Grand Rapids. Yes, that's right, Old St. Nick is leaving his gentrified sliver of the North Pole to hang out at The Grand Rapids Public Museum from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8.
So, trade out your Chips Ahoy! and load up on Kashi cookies, buy your favorite beer brewed with bananas and coffee and don't you dare play Michael Buble's "Silent Night," because the old version is so much better.
The GRPM is partnering with The People Picture Company to bring Hipster Santa to town. All ages are welcome to purchase picture packages to be printed on site during their visit to the museum and with Hipster Santa who will be set up in the Streets of Old Grand Rapids exhibition's Barrel Factory.
"The Museum is excited to host Hipster Santa this holiday season," said Kate Kocienski, VP of Marketing & PR for the GRPM. "It's a perfect combination of your favorite backdrop with a new take on Santa."
Hipster Santa doesn't need a goofy hat. He has a red bow tie. He wears glasses, but probably doesn't need them. And he has awesome facial hair. Like, really, awesome facial hair. And did we mention the vest?
Fans who don't want to wait for Hipster Santa's appearance, and who would, can check out GRPM and the People Picture Company social media accounts for the 12 days of Hipster Santa, which will feature the slimmed-down Santa Claus as he explores the museum.
Photo packages can be purchased in advance online for $65. General admission to the museum is required to have access to pictures with Hipster Santa.
