Due to a disagreement with Grammy producers over which songs she would perform, Ariana Grande, who has been featured on billboards promoting the show all over Los Angeles, not only won’t be performing at the Feb. 10 show, she will not even be attending it, according to sources close to the situation.

An insider tells Variety that Grande felt “insulted” after producers initially refused to allow her to perform “7 Rings,” the latest single from her forthcoming album “Thank U, Next” (which arrives Friday, two days before the Grammys). A compromise was reached whereby “7 Rings” would be part of a medley, but Grande pulled out after producers insisted that the second song be of their choosing. The source added that such stipulations were not imposed on other performers at the show. Reps for the Grammys did not immediately respond to Variety‘s requests for comment. (The news of Grande’s dispute with the Grammys over song choice was first reported by Hits.)

The situation is more than a little similar to the impasse the Grammys reached with Lorde last year, whereby they declined to let her perform a song from her “Melodrama” album — one of the five Album of the Year nominees — and instead offered her a spot during the show’s Tom Petty tribute, which she declined.

Grande is nominated for Best Pop Vocal Performance (for “God Is a Woman”) and Best Pop Vocal Album (for 2018’s “Sweetener”).

With this development, the Grammys find themselves not only without a twice-nominated artist whom they have been using to promote the show, but also without one of the most vital artists of the moment. In the past two years Grande has experienced two major tragedies — the 2017 bombing outside her concert at the UK’s Manchester Arena in which 22 people died, and the drug-overdose death of her former boyfriend Mac Miller last September. But she has also played triumphant concerts, including the “One Love Manchester” benefit staged just two weeks after the tragedy, and released a triumphant No. 1 album and a string of recent blockbuster singles — with “Thank U, Next,” arriving Friday, just a few months after the release of “Sweetener.”

“Sweetener” and the songs “Thank U, Next” and “7 Rings” all smashed Spotify records, with “7 Rings” breaking the streaming service’s record for most plays within a 24-hour period with nearly 15 million.

She's a good singer but to act like a diva you gotta have some good songs under your belt. Ari doesn't

She has plenty of hits, and who the fuck do these producers think they are telling the talent what they can and cannot play. Good for her, fuck them. She doesnt "need" the show, they need her to be there though.

I would dress her up like a ventriloquist's dummy, slam her down on my cock and my lips wouldn't move as I spewed a gusher into her little half pint body and drowned her from the inside out.

Hey man I was onboard after she sang the anthem and when she imitated other singers on SNL. She imitated Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Rihanna and Britney Spears within five minutes and she was great

As Lance and I said, she has a really powerful voice but her current songs are shit. They don't test her voice in any way...they're just crappy top 30 pop songs.

PCS said she has plenty of hits, but hits don't always equate to good songs

Ariana Grande slammed Grammys producer Ken Ehrlich for his explanation as to why she’s not performing at Sunday’s show.

In a Twitter thread on Thursday evening, the pop star, 26, specifically called out an article where Ehrlich was quoted saying she was not able to “pull together” a performance in time.

“I’ve kept my mouth shut but now you’re lying about me,” she said. “I can pull together a performance over night [sic] and you know that, Ken. it was when my creativity & self expression was stifled by you, that i decided not to attend.”

A report on Wednesday cited disagreements with producers over performing her latest single “7 Rings.”

She’s nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance for her single “God Is a Woman” and Best Pop Vocal Album for “Sweetener.”

“I offered 3 different songs,” she said in a follow-up tweet. “It’s about collaboration. it’s about feeling supported. it’s about art and honesty. not politics. not doing favors or playing games. it’s just a game y’all.. and i’m sorry but that’s not what music is to me.”

The singer’s mom, Joan Grande, also chimed in and sided with her daughter, calling promo for the Grammy’s “exploitive” as it uses Ariana’s songs.

“I’m so proud of you… & as Ken stated you were never ever confirmed to perform, but yet articles state that you pulled out of the performance (WRONG) ALSO, knowing there was no agreement to perform, [Ariana is] in all the ads for the show, that’s exploitive!”

And in true, “Thank U, Next” fashion, Ariana also snuck in a sarcastic remark and went back to teasing clips of her music video for “7 Rings.”

“I hope the show is exactly what you want it to be and more,” she said, and also added that as she was tweeting she saw an ad for the Grammys on a bus with her face on it.

Her album, also entitled “Thank U, Next,” drops Friday, two days for before the award show.

A rep for the Recording Academy did not immediately respond to our request for comment.

So the real controversy is that Grammy producers don't want any heat because Ariana's song 7 Rings is coming under fire for being copied? Have I got that right?

Good to see she's in a spot to send a mildly sarcastic message exposing the twerp.
