ANGELA Merkel will have set conspiracy theorists’ pulses racing as the German Chancellor was pictured using an alleged “Illuminati sign” twice during the EU-Arab summit in Egypt, including a sideline meeting with Theresa May where the pair discussed Brexit.
Mrs Merkel was first pictured placing her hands together with her left and right forefingers and thumbs creating a diamond in the group shot of world leaders at the summit yesterday. The German Chancellor then made the shape again when she met with Mrs May today, where the pair discussed the possibility of extending Article 50 and delaying Brexit. Conspiracy theorists claim the diamond – or a pyramid – is a sign made between Illuminati members to identify themselves.
According to the “Illuminati Official” website, the pyramid symbolises “wealth, success and power”.
It is alleged by believers in the Illuminati that it is a secret organisation made up of world leaders and celebrities that run all world governments from behind the scenes.
They also claim the secretive group intends to introduce a New World Order which will see just one government running the entire world.
This is not the first time Mrs Merkel has been pictured making diamond shape with her hands.
The German Chancellor was pictured making the hand gesture at the G7 summit in 2017 and then again at a meeting with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in July of the same year.
But Mrs Merkel, who has been German Chancellor for 14 years, has denied there is anything sinister behind her hand gesture as she explained in a 2013 interview.
She told a German magazine: "There was always the question, what to do with your arms, and that's how it came about. It contains a certain symmetry."
Other famous faces including Gordon Brown, the Duchess of Cornwall and Recep Tayyip Erdogan have also been spotted making the 'Merkel diamond'.
Today the possibility of extending Article 50 was raised at a meeting of between Mrs May and the German Chancellor in Egypt, but there was no "substantive" discussion of it, a UK Government official said.

When asked whether a possible Brexit delay was discussed, the official told reporters: “It wasn't something the PM raised.”
Mrs May has faced growing calls from MPs across all parties to delay the UK’s exit from the EU to prevent crashing out with no deal on March 29.
Work and Pensions Secretary Amber Rudd, Justice Secretary David Gauke and Business Secretary Greg Clark have publicly supported an extension with some MPs suggesting a delay of two months or more.
The Government official added that a possible extension of Article 50 was not the focus of the Prime Minister and Mrs Merkel's conversation on the sidelines of an EU/Arab League summit in Sharm el-Sheikh.
He said: "It was a good conversation, a chance for the PM to give the chancellor an update, to talk about the week ahead, including the statement she is going to be making to parliament tomorrow."
