MARS photos snapped by NASA’s Curiosity rover contain evidence of ancient alien statues, pyramids and other bizarre structures, conspiracy theorists have shockingly claimed.
NASA’s Mars Curiosity rover has bravely explored the surface of Mars since landing on the barren planet in August 2012. As part of its exploration mission, the car-sized rover beams back to Earth a treasure trove of photographs of Mars’s surface. The Mars photos, readily available to the public, are picked apart and heavily scrutinised by UFO hunters on a daily basis. Some conspiracy theorists who have appeared on the History Channel’s show Ancient Aliens have claimed to have found proof of alien structures in these images.
Ancient Aliens broached the bizarre theory in the second episode of Season 11 of the TV series.
Among the more bizarre items supposedly found on Mars, are a cross, an alien statue and pyramid-like buildings.
In the episode, satellite imagery expert Joseph White said: “The rover images are generally fairly close up and it is possible to spot things like statue heads and stone blocks sometimes with writing on them or carvings in them.
“It’s such a shame they’d do so much to destroy these images.
“Basically what they do is resize them down so that the detail is all lost but because I’ve worked in photographic restoration, I know how to do it.“
Mr White then pointed to an angular rock, which he believes is the head of an alien statue of some sorts.
By adjusting the contrast and sharpness on NASA’s rover photo, the expert claimed he was able to reveal the true nature of the object.
He said: “The details I noticed first, were particularly the eye and nose details on the front of the statue on the left here, with a very clear mouth structure and what looks like an ear just here.
And you have a long, narrow, elongated cone-head shape to the statue.
“Now this may well have been an elaborate headdress on this statue here, which seems to have broken off, but it’s hard to say for sure.
“I mean this is a damaged statue buried up to its chin and there’s probably more of it buried below int he sand.
“But you can see actually see quite clearly that it’s the sort of thing you’d expect to find in Central or South America.”

Another alien expert and author of Technology Of The Gods, David Childress, argued pyramid-like structures on Mars mirror this found on Earth.
He said: “Certain structures on Mars may be completely related to structures here on Earth.
“On Mars, we have structures that look like pyramids, there are standing stones and Stonehenge-type of structures on Mars, there’s also a structure on Mars that looks like a Sphinx.”
But the real reason why UFO hunters are seeing faces and structures all over Mars can be explained by a well-known mind trick dubbed pareidolia.
Pareidolia is a peculiar effect due to which the mind spots shapes and patterns, such as faces, where they do not exist.
