Slovenian woman's hand sawn off 'in insurance fraud'

Police in Slovenia have accused a woman of cutting off her hand with a circular saw - with the help of her family - to make a fraudulent insurance claim.

The 21-year-old and a relative have been detained and face up to eight years in prison if convicted.

The suspects recently took out injury insurance, police say.

The woman allegedly stood to gain about €400,000 (£340,000; $450,000) in compensation and monthly payments of about €3,000 from the policy.

Four members of the family were initially detained earlier this year, but two were later released.

Police say the group deliberately cut the woman's hand above the wrist at their home in the capital Ljubljana.

Relatives took her to hospital, saying she had injured herself while sawing branches.

Officials say the group left the severed hand behind rather than bring it to hospital, to ensure the disability was permanent. But the authorities recovered it in time to sew it back on.

How well do you guys know wrestling? I went to school with Owen Hart (same grade) and Diana Hart (two grades ahead of me).

Diana wrote a book called Under the Mat which sold for awhile and then was pulled from the shelves due to lawsuits. In it, she describes the Dynamite Kid injuring his own daughter to get disability payments. (with her permission)

A lot of people have attacked the book saying it's full of lies, while others say she exposed things that were happening behind the scenes for years.

Pick it up if you can find it. She claimed her then husband Davey Boy Smith used to drug her and ass rape her every night. Lots of happy stories similar to that.

She co-wrote it with a local respected news anchor but it fell under disrepute because of complaints from people listed in the book and her brother Bret. Apparently she recanted some of the stories stating that she didn't know things would be changed after she wrote them.

I've been the Hart mansion for parties and heard stories from Owen. That place and family was a shitshow. There were more drugs and steroids floating around the Hart house than most Olympic gyms in the 80's.

I also knew a guy name Brett Kamerick who's parents hosted the WWF stars when they came to our city. I was at Brett's place one night when Randy Savage was there with his kids. We were told to leave and I heard shouts and breaking glass from every room in the house and it was only around 9 pm :lol:

So she is now down a hand, still broke and now going to prison. I mean if your going to fail at something at least try.
