That was strangely interesting. I never thought the numbers on the dial/slider meant minutes, but I never thought to time it either.

My toaster oven has a digital timer. But I use it for everything, so an easily justifyable expense ($99 on sale). I use it instead of the big oven, and most times the microwave for the 3 of us.

No... but maybe  I always figured they were meaningless numbers, but then someone on the internet started spreading a rumor that the numbers meant minutes. Turns out they do not, except perhaps in high end models.

Toaster ovens are highly underrated. So much better for reheating things than a microwave, and faster to heat up than an oven. I've got one but it stays in storage sadly as we just don't have the counter space :(

Breville stuff is the best

When our last inexpensive one died, we decided to splurge and go on the higher end, best money we've spent on an appliance, we rarely use the oven anymore.

Mine is a refurb Black and Decker convection. Large enough for a 12" pizza. Up on the island where space is limited I use it all the time. I'm going to get rid of my stove to make room for more storage and just have the toaster oven and a plug in countertop burner.

Have you guys had the Nescafe single cups? We had K-Cup's at my old office and they were decent, but I was at a friend's for the weekend who had Nescafe and the Keurig can't even hold a candle to them. I'm not sure how much more expensive the machines and nescafe pods are (I assume it's more), but they're excellent.

Wait, so at work it's just okay. On a weekend with friends it's glorious. Does that say more about coffee brewing or perspective?

No the k-cup I’m referring to at working being just ok is a different brand and machine all together, I’m saying the Nescafé pods I tried at a friend’s place are much better than kuirig k-cups... Admittedly in far too many words

Definitely worth it, they make amazing stuff. After going through 2 or 3 of the more budget friendly ones, it justifies buying a higher end one. And like I said, other than large things, you can cook just about anything in it that you do with your oven. And in less time too, because it doesn't take nearly as long to pre-heat as a full sized oven does.

I was looking at the Breville ones, they by far have the highest ratings and reviews. Ended up with the B&D one because a friend bought it for me as a gift. So far I'm very happy with it even though I don't have anything to compare it to as it's my first one.

I had heard about the legend of exploding coffee cups in the microwave and this finally explains why. Totally cool

Up until recently I used to use one of these filled with 1.75 cups of water in the microwave to make tea. Saved me from using THE PLUG IN KETTLE YOU DICKS.

I've got a Breville espresso machine with a built in grinder (870xl is the model I think). It's hands down the best appliance in the house.

I disagree strongly. I had the Christmas of French Presses last year where I researched and gave everyone in my family one. I got one as well.

I bought a grinder/beans and maybe made one pot of coffee that was tolerable.

I read more hours than I care to admit to with those snobby hipster coffee fucks saying things like - You gotta weigh the beans and water EXACTLY on a digital scale, you must steep it only for X-amount of minutes, you MUST stir it for exactly 22 counterclockwise revolutions, and you must stand on one leg while preparing.

If you don't, your coffee is shit [-(

I tried to make it 15 different ways man and it always tasted nasty

My pour over coffee is renowned throughout the land and I've made it for a fair amount of people

I love discoveries like the one this thread starts out with. I'm making spaghetti and can never get one or two servings right. Then I read most plastic spaghetti spoons have a hole in them and the circle will hold one serving exactly of uncooked spag
