NASA’S Spirit Mars rover snapped a “detailed” picture of an ancient alien face buried in the sand, a famous UFO expert has bizarrely claimed.
UFO-hunter Scott C Waring, who runs the conspiracy blog UFO Sightings Daily, discovered the alien face in a NASA photo dated October 3, 2005. Mr Waring is known within the UFO enthusiast community for dissecting NASA’s photos for clues and evidence of past and present alien activity. In his latest bizarre find, the alien conspiracist analysed a photo taken by Spirit at the rover’s landing site nearly 14 years ago. The photo shows a rolling field of Martian sand with hundreds of jagged rocks sticking out of the ground.
One of the rocks, Mr Waring boldly claimed, shows the grizzled old face of an alien specimen.
The UFO expert said: “This is odd I know but I found another face on Mars.
“This face has a lot of detail so that we can truly make out what that alien species looked like.
“I can easily make out the neck, bearded chin, cheeks, mouth, ears, nose eyes and forehead.”
According to Mr Waring, the NASA photo is of incredible importance because it documents the life and death of an alien species on Mars.
The UFO-hunter is a vocal proponent of the theory humans are not the only sentient species to inhabit the solar system.
Mr Waring often finds supposed clues to support his wild theories in pictures of rocks and shadows on Mars and the Moon.
He now said: “Why is this important? A person’s face is their autobiography.
“It tells us all about the species from the appearance to the emotional personality of the person. Their whole life is visible if you look at it carefully.
“When I look at this face I see character, I see pain and suffering but never-ending relentlessness. His chinos up showing his pride and confidence.
“Also by seeing the face before meeting the species, it can make people relax knowing what they will be encountering.
“By showing people these faces I find, I am taking away their fears that have been created by Hollywood movies and shows.”

The UFO expert said the supposed alien face, in his opinion, resembles the face of a “70-year-old grandfather here in on Earth”.
But this is not the first time Mr Waring has made doubtful claims about perfectly normal-looking rock formations outside of Earth.
Earlier this month the alien hunter found a picture anomaly in a Google Maps scan of the Moon, which he claimed was “100 percent proof” of an ET base.
Mr Waring said: “I was exploring Google maps, free to download, when I found the infamous ET base at Zeeman crater.
“I was astonished that Google had not deleted it yet.

“Google had already deleted the ET base from both the Visible Imager and the Colorised Terrain photo map.”
And the most likely explanation for each of the UFO expert’s theories is the psychological mind trick known as pareidolia.
Pareidolia is a bizarre effect, which causes the brain to see shapes, structures and patterns where they do not exist.
NASA explained: “Pareidolia is the psychological phenomenon where people see recognisable shapes in clouds, rock formations, or otherwise unrelated objects or data. There are many examples of this phenomenon on Earth and in space.”
