Well, looks like Dr. Fauci is about to be fired. Fat Boy threw one of his epic twitter tantrums yesterday after the Good Doctor pointed out that there would have been less loss of life if Trump hadn't twiddled his thumbs for over three weeks after Peter Navarro's memo and other warnings in mid-to-late January.
Maybe someone should have told Trump that maybe it wasn't politically astute to pack the faithful together in five packed rallies in February. Sure he probably sold a lot of baseball caps, but he might have inadvertently culled his herd.
Could be an epic "briefing" tonight, just full of "nasty" questions. I quit watching the briefings about a week ago, when I came to the realization that if I wanted to watch a fat guy act like a fool I was better off viewing Benny Hill reruns, but I think I'll tune in tonight.

Two websites for leading universities in China seem to have published and then deleted academic research about the origins of the coronavirus, according to a report.
The posts on the websites of Fudan University and the China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) were erased from online caches -- in a possible bid to control the narrative surrounding the pandemic, The Guardian reported.
The Wuhan university appeared to have published and then deleted posts about academic research that China’s ministry of science and technology needed to approve before publication.
Similar apparent censorship turned up in the form of deleted posts originally published on April 9 by the school of information science and technology at Fudan University in Shanghai.
“They are seeking to transform it from a massive disaster to one where the government did everything right and gave the rest of the world time to prepare,” Kevin Carrico, a senior research fellow of Chinese studies at Monash University, told The Guardian.
“There is a desire to a degree to deny realities that are staring at us in the face … that this is a massive pandemic that originated in a place that the Chinese government really should have cleaned up after SARS,” he added.
China’s science and technology ministry had announced on April 3 that academic researchers needed to report their coronavirus findings to officials within three days or be terminated.
The news outlet noted that China’s President Xi Jinping published an essay in March that included “tracing the origin of the virus” a national priority; the science and technology ministry referenced the essay shortly before the universities changed tunes.
On New Year’s Eve, China informed the World Health Organization of a “mysterious pneumonia outbreak” spreading through Wuhan, an industrial city of 11 million.

The government closed a seafood market at the center of the outbreak, moved all patients with the virus to a specially designated hospital and collected test samples to send to government laboratories. Doctors were told to stay quiet; one who issued a warning online was punished. He later died of the virus.
The Pentagon was said to have first learned about the new coronavirus in December from open-source reports emanating from China. By early January, warnings about the virus had made their way into intelligence reports circulating around the government. On Jan. 3, the head of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], Robert Redfield, received a call from his Chinese counterpart with an official warning.
Dr. Anthony Fauci, the government’s top infectious disease expert, said he was alerted to the virus around the same time — and within two weeks was fearful it could bring about a global catastrophe.
Quickly, U.S. intelligence and public health officials started doubting China’s reported rates of infection and death toll. They pressed China to allow in U.S. epidemiologists — both to assist the country in confronting the spread and to gain valuable insights that could help buy time for the U.S. response. U.S. officials also pressed China to send samples of the virus to U.S. labs for study and for vaccine and test development.
On Jan. 11, China shared the virus’ genetic sequence. That same day, the National Institutes of Health started working on a vaccine.
Ultimately, the U.S. was able to get China’s consent to send two people on the WHO team that traveled to China later in the month. But by then precious weeks had been lost and the virus had raced across Asia and had started to escape the continent.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.
That's interesting, Lance. The question remains why our government did nothin other than the partial China travel ban on January 30th, if our intelligence agencies were issuing warnings about this in early January.
Unless, of course, this is just more fake news from FOX.
Wanna post links to prove that Fauci said that? The only thing I could find was that he said essentially that hindsight is 20/20 and that sure looking back it could have saved lives. He didn't blame Trump and he did say that with the information we knew back then it wasn't enough to justify shutting down the country.
As far as Trump wanting to fire him :
Sure seems like the media is up to their same old tricks of misrepresenting what was said.Quote:
The tweet, which was written by Republican DeAnna Lorraine who is running for Congress, said: "Fauci is now saying that had Trump listened to the medical experts earlier he could've saved more lives. Fauci was telling people on February 29th that there was nothing to worry about and it posed no threat to the US public at large." Lorraine's tweet included a hashtag that said: "Time to #FireFauci."
Sure there may have been a couple warnings issued but NO ONE was saying we need to shut down the whole country. If we had then everyone would have been screaming how Trump is a Nazi and trying to install himself as a dictator.
Fact is that no one knew how bad is was gonna be and shutting down the country every time someone issues a warning that something COULD happen is just fear mongering nonsense. It's just as easy to say that if New York would have 100% locked down three weeks earlier it would have stopped it. And what about Mardi Gras still happening? Those were local decisions, not federal.
How quickly everyone forgets how Trump was labeled a racist for "unnecessarily" banning travel from China on Jan 30.
My view is simple. The United States is not really equipped to deal with this sort of thing. It was ripe for the plucking, Trump or not.
Having said that, he was saying some stupid things about restarting the economy by Easter when 1000s were dying in Italy and Spain. What makes any Western country think that they are immune to the same fate?
I don't think any country was prepared or equipped to deal with this. By the time the truth came out about how easily transmitted it is and how it can be passed around without people showing symptoms it was too late. Early reports from China and WHO were all downplaying the length it could survive on surfaces and transmission person to person.
Also, every time I saw Trump say Easter and now end of the month he's made it pretty clear that he "would like" to see things open and that it's not a set date. He's simply trying to put forth some wishful thinking so the economy doesn't totally collapse. He can't really say the country is closed until September.
Example. Trump: Hopefully we will see the curve flattening and start to get some good news, it would be great if we could start to get some things open by Easter.
Media: Trump said OPEN BY EASTER!
Where did I say anything about shutting down the whole country? How about quietly replenishing EPP and testing supplies; suggesting the curtailment of large social gatherings, postponing his rallies, phasing in guidelines, even reading Navarro's warning or having a staffer read it to him; avoiding calling media attention to the virus as a "hoax"; reassuring his sycophants that the virus would disappear by April, saying the virus was only being carried by 15 people, etc.
In other words, using a little common sense and planning as opposed to wishful thinking.
And, continually insisting that he hasn't forced all 50 states to impose shut-down orders because of his deep love of Federalism and our Constitution, yet proclaiming that he can force all 50 states to reopen even if they refuse to lift their shut-down orders seems just a smidgen hypocritical, nicht wahr?
