I'm sailing away set an open course for the virgin sea
I've got to be free free to face the life that's ahead of me
On board I'm the captain so climb aboard
We'll search for tomorrow on every shore
And I'll try oh Lord I'll try to carry on
I listed some stats about the Voyager probes in the movie thread. It's amazing when you realize the probes have the equivalent amount of computer tech as your current car remote door opener/starter. Scientists have constantly rewritten the instructions throughout the journey because the finite amount of memory and processing speed.
They're powered by a plutonium battery with a degrading lifespan of about 90 years.
Both probes have constantly variable speeds due to outside factors, but somewhere around 60000 km/hour is the average speed of travel throughout their journey.
And what's sad is at that speed it still took over 40 years to reach the edge of our solar system.
