Undefeated welterweight boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. will come out of retirement to face UFC superstar Conor McGregor on Aug. 26 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Mayweather, regarded as one of the best pound-for-pound boxers of all time, opened as a huge favorite to beat McGregor in the boxing match.
Mayweather last fought on Sept. 12, 2015, with a win over Andre Berto to push his record to 49-0 and retain his welterweight championship. McGregor is 21-3 as an MMA fighter and has won UFC championships at 145 and 155 pounds. Mayweather and McGregor will fight at 154 pounds, according to UFC President Dana White.

The opening moneyline tabbed Mayweather as a huge favorite at -2,250 with McGregor at +950. It quickly dipped to -1,100 for Mayweather and +700 and the early wagers had the line down to -800 for Mayweather and +500 for McGregor. What does that mean? For the laymen, it means that a $100 bet on McGregor would win $500 plus the original wager back if he were to win. But in order to win $100 with a Mayweather victory, someone would have to place a wager of $800.
Mayweather vs. McGregor purse
UFC president Dana White previously stated Mayweather could pocket around $100 million for the fight, with McGregor hauling in around $75 million. That would be a record payday for McGregor. The pay-per-view is expected to gross around $475 million.

HE CON DO IT: Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather: McGregor can ‘shock the world’ and beat Mayweather, says former boxing world champ Steve Collins

Steve Collins believes it is foolish to write off the chances of Conor McGregor
CONOR MCGREGOR can shock the world and BEAT Floyd Mayweather, according to former WBO middleweight world champ Steve Collins.
Bookies have been quick to rank The Notorious as a big outsider for the epic battle between two global sporting megastars.
But Collins insists his fellow Irishman can not be written off and “has the ability to pull it off”.
Speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast on TalkSport, Collins said: “Who is to say he can’t win?
“The guy is an absolute natural athlete.
“He has got so much ability and with the right coaching and the right fight plan, he could surprise and shock the whole world. Never write him off.
“He is in with a guy who has got two arms, two feet and in a ring. Mayweather is great, he moves well, he has got grace, he skips and avoid punches and so on, but he is still a human being.
“Are you telling me that if Mayweather gets hit on the chin at the right time that he won’t go over?
“It is not a foregone conclusion. With the right planning, the right game plan, he could surprise and shock the world.
“He definitely has the ability to pull it off.”
And SunSport reported earlier today how Collins isn’t the only one tipping McGregor – Sylvester Stallone also thinks he can do it too.
Hollywood actor Stallone turned Rocky into one of the silver screen’s most iconic characters as he upset the odds to climb to the top of the boxing world.
And Stallone says the Las Vegas fight provides the opportunity for the Irishman to shock the world in the way Rocky did in his epic victory over Apollo Creed in the original film.
Stallone, 70, said: “I always have the underdog. He’s a real life Rocky.
“But then again I live in fantasy.
“It’s never been done before, so you never know.”
