Troy Tulowitzki retired.
He was a great player, too bad the injury bug got him and pretty much shortened what potentially could have been a HoF career.
From the Orioles/Angels game last night:
I think I could throw 56 mph :lol:Quote:
Even after a postgame beer shower from his ecstatic Baltimore Orioles teammates, Stevie Wilkerson was shocked to learn he had just become the first position player in major league history to earn a save.
The Orioles’ center fielder certainly couldn’t believe he did it by throwing a perfect 16th inning way past midnight with a bunch of tepid lobs that never topped 56 mph.
The Cubs were up 2-0 over the Brewers into the 8th. The Brewers scored 2 in the bottom of the 8th to tie the game. No runs in the 9th, the game goes to the 10th.
Albert Almora starts the top of the 10th with the scorching ding dong johnson to give the Cubs a 3-2 lead.
Bottom of 10 is a save situation, so the Cubs go with the bird man (Kimbrel).
Kimbrel faces 3 batters.
1) Yelich - home run to tie the game
2) Saladino - walk.
3) Hiura - walk off 2 run home run.
Brewers win 5-3, giving the Cubs the distinction as tied with the A's for the team with the most losses this season after leading through 7 innings (10 times).
The F'ign Cardinals now lead the NL Central. I said at the start of the season that there may only be one team from the Central in the playoffs this year - the division winner.

Well, the Sox are pretty much done. Take 3 of 4 from the Yankees one weekend and then get swept by them (4 games!) the next weekend. Thank god football season is right around the corner, then I can start bitching about how much Denver sucks.
The Phillies aren't even worth talking about. They were good at the start, but injuries have taken their toll and the offense is suffering for it. Maybe don't gamble on older players in the twilight of their careers. You live, you learn.
Had high hopes for Boston this year again though. Defending champs, kept the same team together for the most part, reigning MVP on the team....and they have been mediocre at best this year.
The Mets have caught fire. 9 - 1 in their last 10. Where the hell have they been all year long?
Charlie Manuel is back in a managerial role with the Phillies. He's replaced the hitting coach. I can't believe they just don't rehire him outright as the team manager. He's the reason we got the World Series in 2008.
To be fair, they have been hitting better since he's taken over.
Me: *checks Cubs score* :-s "Hey, will you turn on the Cubs game?"
Wife: "I thought they were up 5-0"
Me: "Yeah well, looks like they are about to blow it again"
First pitch I see is Strop hitting a batter to load the bases, then....

Don't see too many walk off grand slams :-k
