Kentucky Man Faces 400 Years In Prison After Wife Finds Horrific Video on His Cell Phone

OWENSBORO, Ky. – A Millwood, Kentucky man (and previously convicted rapist), has pleaded guilty to multiple counts of production and distribution of child pornography in a horrific case — he faced up to 400 years in prison for the crimes and the local sheriff says he should be killed.
James D. Armes, 37, of Grayson County, Kentucky was indicted on five counts of production of child pornography, two counts of distribution of child pornography, and one count of possession of child pornography on May 9, 2018. On Monday, Armes admitted before the Court his guilt on all counts.
According to the charges before the Court, on or about December 2, 2017, Armes’s wife, looked at his cell phone and observed pictures of an eight month old relative with Ames in sexual situations.
Investigators say Armes recorded a video of himself sodomizing a 10-month-old baby.
On January 2, 2018, the Federal Bureau of Investigation obtained a federal search warrant to search the cell phone for child pornography. Several images and videos of child pornography were located on the phone including the images described by Armes’ wife. The review of his cell phone revealed eight videos and seven images of child pornography in unthinkable scenes, involving two victims, that Armes allegedly produced.
A Kentucky Sheriff said after the arrest that Armes should be executed:
“Our satisfaction comes from when this guy never sees the light of day, when he gets put behind bars,” Sheriff Chaffins said. “This particular case is an unusual case because it’s literally him on the video, on these images, abusing this baby, and that’s very difficult, especially for a young deputy to have to watch. So it does make it difficult, but like I said, because he’s never going to see the light of day, we’re satisfied with that. But it doesn’t change the fact that this child was abused.”
“Kentucky has a death penalty,” he said. “Someone like that, who abuses a child, I believe, gives up their rights as a human being — to do what he did to that baby. I believe once you give up those rights as a human being, the death penalty is a just punishment.”
Because of Armes prior rape conviction, he now faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years imprisonment for his latest crime, a fine of $2,000,000, and supervised release of not less than 5 years and not more than life.
