Australian Consumer Law
Basically, under this law if you buy a product that fails just after warranty expire, you can be covered by this law.
e.g.
Buy a TV for $1,000 and get a 12 month warranty.
TV fails after 18 months, this law basically says the product at that price would be expected to last longer than that so therefore the ACL covers it.
MAnufacturers don't like it but it is enforceable.
