Grew up with an old wood stereo/turntable cabinet, thing was cool and huge, the big assed lids even rolled/folded into the cabinet somehow. I always wanted to retrofit something else into it.
I took the picture tube and guts from a console and put an aquarium in it.
had one like that in college that only got one tv station called 'the box' that was call in request music videos... i knew most of the 3 digit codes for the upcoming song

I went and got my car washed today. On the way there, I had to pass the old building that used to house the local Blockbuster. It's a TitleMax now. I always feel a pinch of sadness every time I drive by that place. I loved going to Blockbuster back in the day.
The absolute best. Friday nights mom or dad would take us to the movie store. We were allowed one new release for $5 and an old movie for $1. Then we'd order pizza or get junk food at the grocery store.
If you'd told me back then that in the future I'd be able to order junk food delivery from my couch and have thousands of movies streaming to the TV I'd be STOKED... but the nostalgia is too great. I miss having to actually make a decision and sticking with it, the smell of the movie rental stores, fighting with my little brother about which movie to rent. Good times.
