AOC Suggests Bernie Lost Michigan By 260,000 Votes Because Of Democrat ‘Voter Suppression’

By Ryan Saavedra - The Daily Wire

Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) suggested on Thursday night that socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) lost the Michigan Democratic primary because the Democrats used “voter suppression.”

Ocasio-Cortez, who made the remarks during her first interview with Fox News, made the suggestion when asked by anchor Bret Baier about why she keeps saying that the far-left has a winning message when it is getting blown out all over the country.

“You did a campaign event at the University of Michigan, 10,000 people, it was rock star status, but those kids did not show up at least if you look at the numbers, just overall this race,” Baier said. “So, how can you say the progressive position is still prevailing nationwide when Joe Biden is winning so much?”

“Well, I think one thing that isn’t being talked about is that rampant voter suppression in this country,” Ocasio-Cortez continued. “Right there in Ann Arbor where we had that rally, those kids were waiting three hours in line to vote in Michigan. And so, when we talk about who’s turning out and who’s not turning out, we absolutely —”

“So, just to be clear, you’re saying you think voters didn’t get to vote who wanted to vote in Michigan?” Baier pressed.

“Absolutely,” Ocasio-Cortez claimed. “Obviously, there’s more that we need to do in terms of turning out youth voters, it’s, uh, we need to make sure we are inspiring young people to turn out, but when you do turn out, you should not be waiting three, four, seven hours in order to vote and that causes people to leave.”

Ocasio-Cortez’s suggestion that Sanders lost in Michigan and performed poorly in Ann Arbor because of “voter suppression” is a direct attack on the Democrat-controlled state and local goverment.

Michigan’s state government is controlled by Democrats and elections are overseen by Democrat Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, whose job is “ensuring elections are secure and accessible.”

Ann Arbor is also controlled by Democrats.

    WATCH:

Earlier in the interview, Baier asked Ocasio-Cortez, “You are Bernie Sanders most prominent surrogate, was it difficult to witness his kind of swift fault from front runner status. He is almost a protest candidate now, your thoughts on that?”

“Well, I think one of the things that we saw with Bernie Sanders’s leadership, even today is how transformative it is for the American people. Just today he laid out a very strong plan in response to the Coronavirus for everyday people, for main street, not just Wall Street,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “He’s talking about, how do we make sure that everyone with access to Medicare could get it and that that Medicare is improved and expanded. How do we make sure people aren’t booted out of their homes whether it’s not being able to afford their mortgage payment this month or not being able to afford their rent payments?”

“But it does seem like Joe Biden is on his way to the nomination, are you worried he’s not going to be saying those things?” Baier pressed.

Ocasio-Cortez responded, “Well, you know, I think this part of our process is to make sure we come together, I think there’s going to be a real vigorous debate I believe on Sunday night if I’m not mistaken and part of that process means I think we will come together and I think Bernie Sanders has done a great job and is continuing to do a great job of pushing to make sure we have a party agenda that fights for working people.”

Biden Spox: Videos Of Biden Struggling To Complete A Sentence Are ‘Conspiracy Theory,’ ‘Smear Tactic’

    The Daily Wire Staff

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden’s communications director Kate Bedingfield claimed on Wednesday that videos of Biden struggling to “complete a sentence” were conspiracy theories that were part of a smear campaign.

“Real quick, I just want to ask you about the videos that keep coming out,” Fox News’ Ed Henry asked. “Whether it was the one over the weekend where Joe Biden seemed to be struggling to talk about whether or not you should vote for him or vote for Donald Trump’s re-election. Bottom line is, you know the Trump campaign is pushing these videos out there and they’re asking a basic question: is Joe Biden fit to be Commander-in-Chief? How do you answer that?”

“You know, I have to say this is a disgusting smear tactic, and this kind of thing is exactly why people want Joe Biden to be president,” Bedingfield responded. “This kind of false, misleading, basically conspiracy theory, that, uh, you know, a desperate–”

“Hang on,” Henry interjected. “How is it a smear tactic to ask you about a video where the vice president, in his own words, struggles to complete a sentence. How is that a smear tactic?”

“Ed, respectfully, how many times have you struggled to complete a sentence on air?” Bedingfield responded. “That’s ridiculous.”

“I’m not running for president, Kate,” Henry responded.

Bedingfield added, “If I’m Donald Trump and I saw Joe Biden last night giving the speech that he gave sounding presidential, looking like a leader, if I’m looking at the turnout that he is generating across the country, I’m scared too, and starting to throw this kind of nonsense against the wall.”

    WATCH:

Scrutiny over Biden’s fitness for office has increased in recent weeks as more and more clips of him have circulated on cable news and on social media.

Recently, podcast host Joe Rogan expressed serious concern about Biden, saying, “Stop. Pause. He can’t be president. Stop. Pause. Pause. Listen, we can’t play any games here, folks. This is a really old man who can’t talk. This is not a joke. Like that right now, ‘you know the thing,’ play that again. This should get you into a mental hospital. They should be like, ‘Hey, um, Joe are you alright?’”

During the Democratic presidential debates, Biden’s competitors have also raised concern over it.

After one of the debates, then-candidate Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) criticized Biden over concerns that he couldn’t “carry the ball,” telling CNN, “I think we are at a tough point right now because there’s a lot of people concerned about Joe Biden’s ability to carry the ball all the way across the end line without fumbling. And I think that Castro had really legitimate concerns about can he be someone in a long, grueling campaign … and has every right to call out.”

“I think there were a lot of moments where a number of us were looking on the stage when he tends to go on sometimes,” Booker continued. “At one point, he was talking about communities like mine listening to record players. I don’t remember the last time I saw a record player … But there are definitely moments where you listen to Joe Biden and you just wonder …”

Apparently there are separate kid districts and old people districts in Michigan? The seniors didn't have any trouble voting (for Biden) and dwarfed the young vote. So weird. So odd. So suppressive.

So if your candidate loses, regardless of what race it's in, I guess it's all because of 'voter suppression'?

Bernie Bros Warn Of A ‘Mass Exodus’ If Joe Biden Gets The Democratic Presidential Nomination

By Emily Zanotti - The Daily Wire

Sen. Bernie Sanders’ (I-VT) hardcore supporters say that, despite assurances from the Democratic National Committee that left-leaning voters will fall in line behind the likely Democratic presidential nominee, they’re ready to “resist” casting a ballot for former Vice President Joe Biden, “even if that means handing [President Donald] Trump a second term,” according to the New York Post.

Biden pulled well ahead of Sanders in the delegate count last week after inking convincing victories in the South Carolina primary, several major Super Tuesday states, and in the all-important battleground state of Michigan, where he beat the Vermont socialist by a respectable 14 points.

But although Biden is now considered the front-runner for the Democratic nomination, many Sanders’ supporters believe the former Veep’s remarkable comeback from near complete obscurity was orchestrated by Democratic powers-that-be and that powerful “moderates” are pressing Sanders out of competition for the nod.

    They’re planning to fight back.

“We will never – NEVER boost or support Joe Biden or defend his abysmal record and terrible policy positions,” one progressive activist told the New York Post. “We will tell people, as we always have, to vote their conscience and to make decisions based on the interests of all the world’s oppressed people … I do expect a massive exodus from the Democratic Party.”

“I don’t know if I could vote for Biden,” one “high-profile local Democratic Socialist” added. “Biden is just an old white guy who inspires nobody. I sincerely think he will lose the electoral and popular vote and I know I won’t be voting for him in New York.”

The “Bernie Bros,” as Sanders’ die-hard supporters are called, are notoriously aggressive, attacking Sanders’ detractors on social media and, more recently, taking their opposition to the Democratic “establishment” into real life, allegedly threatening Democratic party officials and even, in one case, causing a near-riot at a Democratic party event in Nevada. Several had to be forcibly removed from the Nevada Democratic Party’s annual convention at a Las Vegas casino after throwing objects and reportedly threatening speakers who had disqualified several Sanders delegates.

In 2016, after Sanders lost the party’s presidential nomination to Hillary Clinton — a loss the “Bernie Bros” blamed on the DNC and “superdelegates” who declared their affiliation to Clinton before the primaries began — “[a] whopping 12% of them voted for Trump in 2016, according to an analysis by Cooperative Congressional Election Study. That added up to roughly 216,000 voters in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, exit polls showed. Trump’s combined margin of victory in those states was 77,744.”

That doesn’t change their calculus, though, the “Bernie Bros” say.

Sanders himself is staying in the race, even though it’s unlikely he’ll make up the difference in delegates between now and July. The Sanders campaign announced Wednesday that the Vermont socialist plans on attending Sunday night’s presidential debate, now moved to Washington, D.C. from Phoenix, Arizona, over coronavirus concerns, and will compete in Tuesday’s primaries (most of which are still on despite “social distancing” policies). Sanders has the money and support to remain competitive for some time, and his supporters hope that his continued presence boosts progressive influence within the party — even if Sanders’ base seems smaller in 2020 than it was in 2016.

“I think staying in the race is the responsible thing to do,” one notable progresssive added. “He needs to challenge Biden on certain aspects of his rhetoric. He needs to accumulate clout and delegates to shape the Democratic platform and pressure the Biden campaign into adopting a more popular economic platform.”

Who won, and who lost at the first one-on-one Democratic debate

    New York Post Staff

Joe Biden walked out of Sunday night’s debate in a commanding position in the Democratic presidential primary after Bernie Sanders failed to land needed punches to slow the former vice president’s momentum, said The Post’s debate expert Eric Phillips.

“Bernie Sanders had to change the trajectory of this race and he did not do it,” commented Phillips, who previously served as Mayor Bill de Blasio’s press secretary. “I think we’re talking about a matter of days before Sanders has to give it up.”

Phillips said that not only did the sometimes gaffe-prone Biden manage to avoid major stumbles, he also managed to project the needed strength to reassure voters frightened by the coronavirus pandemic sweeping the country — which has hit New York especially hard.

“The Biden that we saw Sunday night — when he’s rested and put in a position to project steady leadership — can absolutely go toe to toe with Donald Trump,” he added. “Biden did what he had to do and in a moment when everyone is understandably nervous about leadership, Biden was the one on the stage who projected it.

Joe Biden: The nation is panicked and Joe Biden seemed like the person you’d rather have on the wheel to steer us out. He seemed rested and he delivered his best debate yet.

    Arrow: Up

Bernie Sanders: Bernie needed to upset the trajectory of this race and he did not do it. He needed to extract progressive commitments out of Biden and he did not do it. That’s a loss.

    Arrow: Down

Phillips said the debate featured three key moments that allowed Biden to claim a win — sometimes thanks to Sanders’ inability to box in his former Senate colleague.

    1) Health care: “We’re in the middle of a deadly pandemic and Bernie couldn’t find a way to make this debate about health care. That needed to be his imperative. If anything, Biden put him on the defensive over single-payer in countries that haven’t contained coronavirus.”

    2) Their records: “Bernie had Biden on the ropes over past Social Security comments. And Biden scored points on Bernie’s conservative record on guns. It was strange that neither seemed prepared for the obvious attacks.”

    3) Foreign Policy: “Biden’s debate goal was to seem presidential — and on foreign policy, he was his most compelling. Bernie’s past support of authoritarian regimes was an easy entry point for Biden to globetrot the audience through his resume and make Bernie seem quixotic.”

Phillips is a longtime Democratic political adviser to local, state and federal campaigns and elected officials. He spent four years at City Hall, including three years as Mayor de Blasio’s longest-serving press secretary. He now works at a global crisis communications firm.

Ohio Ignores Judge’s Ruling, Shuts Down Polls To Protect People

By Ryan Saavedra - The Daily Wire

Ohio Republican Governor Mike DeWine announced on Monday night that he and Ohio Department of Health Director Dr. Amy Acton were ignoring a judge’s ruling and postponing Ohio’s presidential primary on Tuesday due to the coronavirus outbreak.

“During this time when we face an unprecedented public health crisis, to conduct an election tomorrow would force poll workers and voters to place themselves at an unacceptable health risk of contracting coronavirus,” DeWine wrote on Twitter. “As such, @DrAmyActon will order the polls closed as a health emergency. While the polls will be closed tomorrow, Secretary of State @FrankLaRose will seek a remedy through the courts to extend voting options so that every voter who wants to vote will be granted that opportunity.”

DeWine’s announcement came shortly after “Judge Richard A. Frye of the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas rejected the state’s request to push back voting to June 2,” The New York Times reported. “Dan Tierney, a spokesman for the governor, said Mr. LaRose would seek through the courts to have another date set for in-person voting in Ohio.”

Acton issued a Director’s Order on Monday night that stated: “To conduct an election at this time would force poll workers and voters to face an unacceptable risk of contracting COVID-19. COVID-19 is a respiratory disease that can result in serious illness or death, is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which is a new strain of coronavirus that had not been previously identified in humans and can easily spread from person to person.”

Acton then documented the progression of the coronavirus in a nearly 2-page long timeline before concluding, “Accordingly, to avoid an imminent threat with a high probability of widespread exposure to COVID-19 with a significantly risk of substantial harm to a large number of people in the general population, including the elderly and people with weakened immune systems and chronic medical conditions, I hereby ORDER all polling locations in the State of Ohio closed on March 17, 2020. This Order shall take effect immediately and remain in full force until the State of Emergency declared by the Governor no longer exists, or the Director of the Ohio Department of Health rescinds or modifies this Order.”
