Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) fled from a reporter on Monday when she was asked about her claim that detained female migrants were being forced to drink from toilets in a CBP facility.
Ocasio-Cortez repeatedly made the claim on her Twitter account, without evidence, claiming that CBP officials were telling women to drink from the toilet while Ocasio-Cortez was standing there.
"There's abuse in these facilities, this was [CBP officials] on their best behavior," Ocasio-Cortez told reporters following her visit. "These women were being told by CBP officers to drink out of the toilet. They were drinking water out of the toilet and that was them knowing a congressional visit was coming. This is CBP on their best behavior, telling people to drink out of the toilet."
A reporter then confronted Ocasio-Cortez, asking: "Did you see somebody actually do that?"
Ocasio-Cortez rolled up the window in the vehicle that she was in, put her hand up, refused to answer the question, and said, "I'm sorry I have to go."

Ocasio-Cortez's unsubstantiated claim was met with instant pushback, as border reporter Anna Giaritell reported: "Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., screamed at federal law enforcement agents 'in a threatening manner' during a visit to a U.S. Border Patrol facility in El Paso, Texas, Monday afternoon and refused to tour the facility, according to two people who witnessed it."
"13 other House Democrats as well as their aides were in the room," Giaritelli added. "I'm told only Rep. Ocasio-Cortez reacted in this manner."
Daily Mail editor David Martosko tweeted out a photo of the type of toilet that is used in CBP facilities, noting that the sink with "potable water" is attached to the toilet.
