I agree but are you saying Dave isn't talented? After Nirvana he played for Tom Petty and was asked to join the Heart Breakers but turned it down to do Foo Fighters. The guy has played with Paul McCartney, Stevie Nicks, Lemmy, Slash, David Bowie, The Bangles, Garbage, Nine Inch Nails, Juliette and the Licks, The Prodigy, Zac Brown Band, Rush and Puff Daddy. The guy is a living legend, inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame in 2014, is a top notch drummer, great font man and even a pretty solid guitar player.

No, not at all. I'm saying using the metric of sales to judge talent isn't accurate.

I look at the body of work, the variety of music and how the music affects the world in general.

eg some rapper or hip hop guy just eclipsed an album sales figure and/or the amount of weeks on the top 30 lists. He's so good I can't recall his name right now

Point being I think Grohl is totally talented as evidenced by his longevity, the amount of people he's played with and his musical catalog

I mean Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova are enjoyable songs but I'll never consider Oasis one of the greats because they couldn't even survive a decade (and had the world by the balls).
