The Queen is looking for new butler – for less than living wage
By Michael Moran - The Daily Star
If you were hoping to follow in the footsteps of Paul Burrell, here’s your chance, though you'll have to make do on less than the London living wage.
The Royal Household has placed a situations vacant advert because it’s recruiting for a trainee butler.
The lucky applicant won’t be paid all that much but will be living at Buckingham Palace for much of the time, which is sure to impress the Deliveroo drivers.
It’s a 24/7 type of job, for a salary of £20,806 a year.
That works out at around £8.96 per hour which is less than both the UK living wage, currently set at £9, and the official London living wage of £10.55.
But, then again, you wouldn’t be paying any rent.
And there will probably be some decent grub on offer as well.
That said, you’ll need to spend a lot on thermal underwear.
Her Majesty is notoriously thrifty when it comes to heating her palaces, and one of the grand state rooms at Buckingham Palace is heated by just one 2-bar electric fire.
The job ad promises that “you'll grow your skills quickly” and that you’ll be helped to study for an “accredited butlering qualification”.
The advert goes on to say that candidates must have a “proactive approach and ability to tackle new challenges.”
Could this be you? or someone you know?
If you are an outstanding team player with a polite, friendly and approachable working style, you could be in Balmoral by Christmas!

It's a trainee position. Sounds like an interesting job, and you get pay, food and board too
