Upon aging and quiet reflection, two subtle facts will dawn on you:

1, GnR were a band that were heavily influenced by 70's era Aerosmith. Put some punk rock and pop sensibilities into the mix, and one shitty vocalist, and you've got GnR.

2. The Black Crowes (a band that I absolutely love, mind you), desperately wanted to be the Rolling Stones. Throw in a bunch of Southern Rock influence and you've got the Black Crowes.

I've known these 2 facts since the mid-90s, and many other music fans and musicians agree with me.

All people have influences.. I don't think they are a "clone" of Aerosmith though.. Look at Led Zeppelin, everything the wrote was influenced..
