Interestingly, comorbid cardiovascular disease is showing a significantly higher case fatality rate than comorbid respiratory disease, 10.5% v 6.3% respectively.

Interesting Italy facts. 2nd oldest population in the world. Significantly higher smoking rates. But more interesting is that Italy is including all deaths where the patient has a COVID-19 infection in the statistics. The actual death certificates only show a COVID-19 cause of death in 12% of those cases.

I can't make heads nor tails of most of the data, nothing adds up so it feels like we're being spun. Illinois stated there could be 36,000 cases. That sounds way too low. Then they said the stay home order could save 10's of thousands of lives. So Illinois is expecting a 25-35% death rate? I don't know if they think we're dumb, they are dumb, they are managing a message, or making shit up.

I mainly look at the rate of increase of reported cases.. it seems to double every 4 days, so you can assume at any point in time there are probably 4-6 times more people with infection than have been reported.

This is why it is probably being treated differently from the flu. the whole disease can last up until 37 days, early symptoms can be unnoticed for days and it is at least twice as transmittable as the flue.

I don't know that reported cases give me meaningful information. a) we haven't reached peak yet, so no matter what measures they take, the number will rise and people will get more freaked out, and b) testing roll outs will drastically increase the numbers, c) massive case increase statistics drastically reduce the death rate, making the opposite case.

Iran's supreme leader blames US for sending coronavirus to Iran
