Watch the hospitals and morgues fill up and overflow in 4-6 weeks. I predict a complete state of emergency in 6-8 weeks for Texas and (especially) Florida.

The piece my tiny brain fails to understand is the argument that we are expecting to stop transmission, That is a COMPLETELY different argument than where we started.

"Flatten the curve" was the objective. It was not "stop transmission".

    So, um... I'm confused.

And this game of "we handled it better" is silly and self-righteous bullshit.

Our entire Victorian breakout was traced back to a security guard for our quarantine facility who shared a cigarette lighter.

I think the most useful thing about lockdowns is it teacges people, or some people, to develop good habits. Elimination is clearly impossible

So why are we all acting like we can? And some locations preening like they "solved" the puzzle?

Because that's the new narrative. You can't control the masses unless you keep them scared and keep moving the goalposts.

Never let a good crisis go to waste

In fairness it 'worked' for small country like New Zealand.

I don't know about preening but these areas - or countries can return to a relatively normal life much sooner while the rest of us slog it out. It's hard not to be envious and think what could we have done better. I haven't known of any area to rub their victory in though, other than jokingly

That may well be the case in the states, but certainly not here. I think they are genuinely just trying to help and minimise people getting seriously ill

The last comment is driven more by the constant whiny-self-loathing-American-dickhead drum beat here. It's constant about how much they hate their own country and EVERYONE else is better. Horrid.

Why can't we be more like other countries?! Waaaaaaa....
Why is every other country so much better?! Waaaaaaa...
    And OMG, Trump?! Waaaaaaa...
