Busted Teacher, 33, 'had sex with boy, 14, after plying him with cannabis-laced gummy bears'

By Anders Anglesey, Overnight News Editor - The Daily Star

An ex Chicago teacher has been charged after she allegedly had sex with a pupil at her home.

Sara Damyan, 33, appeared in court on Tuesday after she had been charged with criminal sexual assault involving a then-14-year-old boy whom she met at Volta Elementary.

Prosecutors said Damyan convinced the student to come to her home and plied him with cannabis-laced tea and gummy bears.

The lawyers added that shortly afterward the pair had sex and also had intercourse the following day.

After the alleged encounter, Damyan allegedly told a friend what had happened.

Her pal then notified police about the alleged sex between the teacher and pupil.

James Gherardi, press secretary of Chicago Public Schools, said it was cooperating with police.

He added: “The safety of our students is the district’s top priority and district immediately removed the former employee from her position in March 2019 in response to serious allegations.”

Mr Gherardi: “The district will provide supports to the school community and we will continue to fully support law enforcement and the State’s Attorney’s Office during the criminal proceedings.”

“Concerning allegations were brought to the attention of the school leadership and district officials in March spring, CPS removed the employee from her position working with students and initiated an investigation.

“The individual has not returned to her position working with children to the school since being removed in March 2019 and was no longer employed at CPS as of September 2019.”

Should Damyan be convicted from four to 15 years in prison, according to the state’s law.

Damyan is set to return to court next month.

I have to see if there is more recent research on this phenomenon. I would guess probably not. Doesn't fit the narrative so it won't get funded.
