I walked out on tuesday after an argument with my idiot boss, the rest of the staff walked out on wednesday after finding out our newest member of staff's father-in-law is hospitalized with the virus. I still have a job apparently as the secretary phoned me from home yesterday and my boss told her i'd decided to self-isolate He's been good to me over the years but he can be a right prick at times. He's worried of course that he's going to lose everything, which i can understand......... if you're not alive though what does it matter? Our work was drying up anyway as probably 75% of our jobs come from the big salesrooms in Perth and they've all been quiet the last few weeks and i think all (or certainly the vast majority) are now closed...... no-one's buying cars, less people are driving atm so there's less crashes and less trade-ins to fix. Even if people do damage their car, who wants to spend money unnecessarily at a time like this?

So, atm i still have a job....... but who knows what's going to happen in the weeks to come?

Is the Scottish government providing direct cash assistance?

This week all i'm getting is stat sick pay (plus one day's work), as of next week it'll be 80% of my wages paid by the government. I know businesses are getting VAT breaks, no idea what else (haven't looked into it tbh )

Might be better off shutting it down for the time being. At least he won't be blowing money on payroll, and saving a ton on gas? & electric bills. Be able to weather the storm for longer that he could if he was keeping everyone on with no or little work coming through the door. I have to assume he's been operating at a loss recently.

We're fine, we have work to last us another 6 months and I we are considered manufacturing so we are essential plus I already work from home half the time anyway. My wife is in education and she is working from home. Honestly thats been the biggest change is having the whole family home all the time. I am at the shop today, just 3 of us here. Had to run the cnc.

And the hammer is raised. They've just announced we are to be limited to 8hrs/day. They've tried that before during bad times. It doesn't really work. We'll see.
