I hate my new director enough that I'd rather get COVID-19 and be off.

    Important Notice Re:
    US Executive Order 831
President Trump's press release lays the groundwork for our country's return to work and economic growth.
    EMPLOYEE NOTICE
Due to the current financial situation caused by the Corona Virus and the slowdown in our economy, the Government has decided to implement a plan to put workers of 50 years of age and above on early, mandatory retirement, thus creating jobs and reducing unemployment while simultaneously combating the Virus..
This plan will be known as RAPE (Retire Aged People Early).
Persons selected to be RAPED can apply to the Government to be considered for the SHAFT program (Special Help After Forced Termination).
Persons who have been RAPED and SHAFTED will be reviewed under the SCREW program (System Covering Retired-Early Workers).
A person may be RAPED once, SHAFTED twice and SCREWED as many times as the Government deems appropriate.
Persons who have been RAPED could get AIDS (Additional Income for Dependents & Spouse) or HERPES (Half Earnings for Retired Personnel Early Severance).
Obviously, persons who have AIDS or HERPES will not be SHAFTED or SCREWED any further by the Government.
Persons who are not RAPED and are staying on will receive as much SHIT (Special High Intensity Training) as possible. The Government has always prided themselves on the amount of SHIT they give our citizens.
Should you feel that you do not receive enough SHIT, please bring this to the attention of your representative, who has been trained to give you all the SHIT you can handle.
    Sincerely,
The Committee for Economic Value of Individual Lives (E.V.I.L.)
PS - Due to Corona Virus, recent budget cuts and the rising cost of electricity, gas and oil, as well as current market conditions, The Light at the End of the Tunnel has been turned off.

We are preparing for a 30% reduction in workforce if our numbers don't hold. I'm in sales so should be personally fine because my pay is tied to performance.

Work here is really getting thin now, but yesterday afternoon I heard from a formerly huge customer and they flooded me with RFQ's, so things might be looking up for us now.

I've officially survived the first round of layoffs. Supposedly more coming mid month or so. My hours have been tentatively reduced. They want me to work no more than 8hrs a day. With only working half the year, that's a potential 50% take home cut since I wont be getting the normal overtime. It hasn't really worked yet. Last week was 81hrs. Today is first day of new pay cycle, and I'm at 13 so far, with a minimum of 3 more to go.
