Shit got real here. Looting 2 miles east. A shooting in the back of an Olive Garden. Wal-Mart looted, Binney's, Kohl's. More. The strip mall across the street from our apartment is blocked off to traffic. Might be a long night.
I wanted to be a Monk, but I never got the chants.

Smallish turnout (looks big but it's not really compared to what I've seen in the US) for a protest in the name of George Floyd here today at the art gallery about 5 mins from my place. Think it's staying peaceful but we'll see.

Saw some pics and vids this morning of pallets of bricks that have been dropped off in downtown areas suspiciously close to where protests are planned. Apparently no construction anywhere in the area. Don't know if this is true or not.

Random piles of bricks reported at George Floyd protests
By Edmund DeMarche | Fox News
Social media users at protests have reported large piles of bricks randomly appearing at rallying sites over the death of George Floyd in police custody.
Police in Kansas City, Mo., told residents in a tweet Sunday that they discovered stashes of bricks and rocks "to be used during a riot."
“If you see anything like this, you can text 911 and let us know so we can remove them. This keeps everyone safe and allows your voice to continue to be heard,” the Kansas City Police Department tweeted.
Violent protests erupted across the country after the death of Floyd in police custody.
Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin became the focus of outrage and four days of street protests across the nation this week after he was seen on cellphone video kneeling on Floyd’s neck for more than eight minutes during his arrest on suspicion of passing a counterfeit bill.
Floyd died in custody and Chauvin was fired and arrested Friday on charges of third-degree murder and manslaughter.
Unconfirmed videos emerged on social media that claimed to show random stacks of bricks in the middle of some of these protest locations. Breaking911, a Twitter handle with nearly 700,000 followers, posted that “videos continue to surface showing protesters stumbling upon pallets of bricks or pavers in areas with no construction taking place.”
Videos of rioters stumbling on these piles prompted several theories online about their origin, ranging from them being planted there by police so rioters could face tougher charges to outside agitators trying to up the stir up more trouble.
ICE T, who has spoken out against police brutality and in favor of the protesters, posted a Twitter video that showed some of the bricks, and wrote, “Looks like a set up to me…There’s ALWAYS more than meets the eye.”

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.) said Sunday that Minneapolis protesters who defied the governor's curfew orders Friday and Saturday night were "terrorized" by the National Guard and police enforcing the governor's orders.
"There really was also many people who chose to demonstrate and not abide by the curfew, who felt like they also were terrorized by the presence of tanks, by the presence of the National Guard and a militarized police," Omar said on ABC's This Week.
The Minneapolis protests, which started last week in response to the death of a black man held in police custody, took a violent turn Wednesday night when protesters burned and looted cars and businesses. On Thursday night, rioters set the Minneapolis Police Department's Third Precinct on fire.
On Friday, Minnesota governor Tim Walz (D.) ordered an 8 p.m. curfew and pleaded with protesters to abide by it, hoping to separate those who wished to incite violence from peaceful protesters. By Saturday morning, after repeated nights of violent clashes between police and protesters, Walz said in a press conference that the protests were pursuing destruction rather than justice.
"Let's be very clear, the situation in Minneapolis is no longer in any way about the murder of George Floyd. It is about attacking civil society, instilling fear, and disrupting our great cities," the governor said.
Many did not obey the governor's curfew Friday or Saturday, but increased National Guard presence Saturday night prevented the damage from being as severe as the previous two nights.
The killing of George Floyd, an African-American man and Minneapolis resident, by Derek Chauvin, a white Minneapolis police officer, sparked a national outcry and protests in cities nationwide against police brutality this week.

Music was better when ugly people were allowed to make it.
She forgot to mention that those protestors did not destroy property and loot stores but did pick up their trash afterwards.
