Obvious With Donald Trump Out, Bill Maher Blasts Democrats For Being “Hypersensitive” On ‘Real Time’

    By Michael Haskoor - Decider

Bill Maher has just one more episode of Real Time to go before the holidays and this week’s episode centered on what he feels needs to be fixed within the Democratic Party now that Donald Trump is out and “our democracy has been saved.”

The HBO host was critical of Democrats who, Maher said, often display a lack of “common sense” to the American people and are “hypersensitive” when it comes to social justice issues, hence why so many votes were still cast for Trump.

In his “New Rules” segment, Maher noted that Democrats failed to flip the Senate and state legislators, which was a main goal of the 2020 election. He even pointed out that they lost seats in the House and even though they denounce systemic racism, their minority vote totals actually went down.

Maher said that this past election proves that a large portion of the country seems to be sending a message: “We don’t like Trump, but we still can’t bring ourselves to vote for you.”

“Liberals can either write off half the country as irredeemable,” Maher said, “or they can ask, ‘What is is about a “D” next to a candidate’s name that makes it so toxic?’”

He applauded Pennsylvania Democrat Conor Lamb’s comments that the party’s rhetoric “needs to be dialed back. It needs to be rooted in common sense.”

“There, in my opinion, is the crux of the problem,” said Maher. “Democrats too often don’t come off as having common sense to a huge swath of Americans. Democrats are the party of every hypersensitive social justice warrior woke bullsh*t story in the news.”

Maher referred to Dems as the party that “makes people disappear,” pointing out that Anne Hathaway felt compelled to apologize because she plays a witch with three fingers in her new HBO Max movie The Witches and some were offended, claiming it was a mockery of those with disabilities.

“Who are these jellyfish?” asked Maher.

“I can do this all day,” he added, “Cite stories big and small that are endlessly on people’s news feeds that add up to a constant drip, drip, drip of ‘These people are nuts.’”

“That’s what people vote on,” he said. “Not policy.”

Democrats kept saying in the campaign, ‘You can’t possibly think Trump is preferable to what we’re selling,’ and many voters keep saying, ‘Yes. We. Can. In fact our primary purpose for voting for him is to create a bulwark against you. Because your side thinks silence is violence and looting is not.’”

He's right on the money with regards how either party sets themselves op for the future, to actually win and win well.

I like how he will still refuse to accept that some of us DO like Trump
