A married teacher accused of having sex with a 15-year-old student three times reportedly told a UK court that at 5 feet tall she was “too short” for it to have been possible.

Mom of three Kandice Barber, 35, is accused of straddling the boy in her vehicle, having sex in a field and performing a sex act on him in the woods in 2018.

But her lawyer said she was so “tiny” she only came up to the teen’s shoulder, making their alleged romps physically impossible, The Sun reported.

The student initially denied the affair, thinking he may have impregnated her — but later confessed after topless Snapchat photos she sent him began spreading around Princes Risborough secondary school in Buckinghamshire, a court heard in September.

Barber has always denied the alleged liaisons and claimed the intimate images were hacked from her phone.

But investigators later found a series of seemingly incriminating Google searches, including “alibi” and “lie about where you have been,” The Sun has reported.

On Tuesday, the jury was told woman had already been convicted of messaging the boy a video of her performing a sex act on her bed, according to the news outlet.

But her lawyer, Nadia Chbat, told Amersham Law Courts the alleged romps never took place.

“You told the police that you were stood behind her. You had pulled your clothes down,” she told the now 18-year-old. “You accept she is quite tiny, only about five feet, isn’t she, so you were taller than her at the time weren’t you?

“You did not even think she could reach your shoulders at the time, would she? Let us just understand, you then get out of the car and walk to a little wooded area — that is where she, you say, performed oral sex on you,” she said.

“Why would you get out of the car at all? She is on top of you and you are performing a sexual act in the car. What was the need to get out of the car?” Chbat continued.



“Presumably it would have been just a matter of her body being moved down further on your trouser area? Instead, a decision was made to get out of the car and walk into the wooded area,” she said.

“You both walk to this wooded area and that is when you then lie down in the wooded area and you say she performed oral sex on you.”

The alleged victim told the court they had to get out of the vehicle because Barber had parked next to a busy road near his home in Buckinghamshire, The Sun reported.

Jurors also heard that Barber allegedly threatened to “bring the complainant down” if he reported her.

“You cannot make me blush when I am teaching now, poker face,” she allegedly texted him in class, the court was told, according to the outlet.

Barber has denied three counts of causing or inciting a child aged under 16 to engage in a sexual act and one count of sexual communication with a child.

She also denied one count of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activities while in a position of trust, and one count of causing a child to watch a sexual act by a person in a position of trust.

A married teacher who groomed and had sex with a 15-year-old boy has been sentenced to more than six years in prison.

Kandice Barber was found guilty of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity in January following a retrial and was sentenced for her "beyond despicable" crimes on Friday.

During the trial, Amersham Law Courts heard the 35-year-old had told the boy she would "bring him down with her" if the relationship was discovered.

She had sent topless pictures of herself to the boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, while she was working as a school cover supervisor, as well as a "live video" of her masturbating.

On Friday, Barber, of Wendover, Buckinghamshire, appeared at Aylesbury Crown Court to be sentenced.

Prosecutor David Povall summarised a statement from the victim, who said he faced stress and anxiety as a result of the incidents and going through two trials.

He continued: "He was at school and it was through his presence at school that he came into contact with this defendant, who was working there in a position of trust.

"He feels that his GCSE results were not as good as they should have been, in part as a result of the impact of these incidents on him.

"As a result of his poorer-than-expected GCSE results he had to leave the good school he was attending and go to a sixth-form college where none of his friends were.

"In summary, he says that the defendant ... who was supposed to help students make the right decisions instead helped him to make all the wrong decisions."

Recorder Bal Dhaliwal handed Barber a sentence of six years and two months for the charge of causing a child to engage in sexual activity.

She described how Barber added herself to the victim's Snapchat account in September 2018, exchanging messages with the boy which became sexual within a week.

She said: "You also sent images, including a topless image of yourself, and a live video in which you were masturbating. All of these acts are tantamount to you grooming him and pulling him in, and with significant planning on your part."

During one incident, the court heard Barber asked the boy to meet her, going to a private field and having sex with him.

The judge continued: "There is no doubt in my mind that you acted in gross breach of trust. You took advantage of a child in your care and groomed him for your own sexual gratification."



Barber later told the boy to delete all messages and block her on Snapchat to stop evidence being found.

"You remained determined to silence him in whatever way you could," Judge Dhaliwal said.

Barber later told the teenager that she was pregnant and was unsure whether the baby was his or her husband's. "This was yet another attempt by you to manipulate and control him," the judge continued.

"You already had authority over him by the nature of your position, and to use threats to bring him down so he would comply with your demands to remain quiet, which is what I find that you did, is in my view beyond despicable."

Barber was also handed a 16-month prison sentence for causing a child under 16 to watch sexual activity by a person in breach of trust and a further 10-month sentence for sexual communication, both to be served concurrently with her main sentence.

She will be required to notify police of her personal details and address for the rest of her life, as well as being barred from working with children and vulnerable adults, and being subject to a lifelong sexual harm prevention order.

Following the sentencing an NSPCC spokesperson said: "As a teacher, Barber would have been well aware of the vulnerability of young people, and it was her duty to safeguard those in her care. But, instead, she exploited her position of trust to groom and abuse this teenage boy for her own sexual gratification.

"Speaking out about child sexual abuse can be extremely challenging for victims and it's important the victim in this case receives all the support he needs to help him come to terms with what has happened.

"We all have a responsibility for the welfare of children, if have you concerns about a child please call the NSPCC helpline on 0808 800 5000."
