RIP Prince Philip has died aged 99, Buckingham Palace announces

    BBC News

Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth II's husband, has died aged 99, Buckingham Palace has announced.

The prince married Princess Elizabeth in 1947, five years before she became Queen, and was the longest-serving royal consort in British history.

A statement from Buckingham Palace said: "It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

"His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle."

The couple had four children, eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Thanks - FBD is blocked so I could not see his post.

There is no doubt that many British people do "love" the royal family but in a better context it would more likely be that there is a huge respect for QEII.

yeah I know you're too soft and yellow to read my posts, love and respect can absolutely be used interchangeably here. the monarchy is just fucking the plebes just as it has throughout its history, but that doenst stop absolute morons from singing their praises nonetheless. they have done nothing whatsoever deserving of respect. zip, zero, zilch, nada.
